    Autolocking door - replacing handle/lock

Hi I've bought a property where the external handle won't open the door even if the door is unlocked unless I put the key in externally - I am at risk of locking myself out of the property. I wondered what my options were - I am looking at replacing the lock as a minimum (as I don't know how...

    Faulty Wiring or Switch/Outdoor Light

Thanks. Could I replace with a 10AX 2-Gang 2-Way 10AX Light Switch and would that stop the lamp being on continuously. The existing switch covers an indoor light and an outdoor light.

    Faulty Wiring or Switch/Outdoor Light

Recently moved in and noticed the outdoor light switch wasn't working, found the bulb was disconnected and when I connected it the outside light will stay on faintly. If the switch is turned on the light will be on full. Trying to work out whether I need to replace the switch or if it's a...

    Roof repaired on new purchase

During the survey the surveyor picked up with light coming through and the ridge tiles needed repointing and also tiles need to be replaced. I've had someone recently to address repointing/tile repairs. Looking in the attic I can still see light coming through, although I understand there is no...

Working boiler getting replaced can it be used for spares

1 bathroom at the moment although likely to increase in the future (more likely to another shower room) . Cylinder is small and takes ages to heat water. Was planning to move to a Worcester 4000 30.

Working boiler getting replaced can it be used for spares

I've moved into a property and will be moving to a combi boiler from a standard boiler (Worcester Greenstar RI). The boiler is working fine and wondered could I get any value from the existing one as spares. Are there companies who will buy my existing boiler and refurb the parts for spares?

    Changes to bungalow layout

Sadly not enough space to do this, or to change the direction of the bathtub in it's current setup.

    Changes to bungalow layout

The current width of the bath tub is too small. I did consider removing the wall early on but it still wouldn't have created the size of a bathroom that we are looking for.

    Changes to bungalow layout

No, only through garage or through the passage between the garage and the building.

    Changes to bungalow layout

It's very cramped at the moment, you can see in the diagram the door is hitting against the bath tub which is small as well.

    Changes to bungalow layout

Sorry I should have added the toilet and the bathroom would be too small even if the wall was removed. The dimensions aren't on the diagram but they are small.

    Changes to bungalow layout

Currently the property has a small bathroom and I am trying to think of ways of improving the layout to increase the size of the bathroom and open up the living room and kitchen while still keeping the sizes of the 2 bedrooms. I am trying to avoid spending lots of money on a large extension and...

    Cracks in ceiling

Viewed a property I am interested in buying and noticed this crack in the ceiling, 1930 bungalow. While the crack looks straight looking closer you can see it connects with smaller cracks. Should I be worried, or expected for the age of the building.

Wondering what this is on the external brickwork

I was viewing a property to buy and noticed this on the external wall near the door. Any idea what it could be - is it some sort of water repellent on the bricks, or just been repointed and left it a bit messy .... Thank you in advance !

    Twin Flu

Hi I have a ferroli optimax boiler which uses dual flu's that run above the ceiling about 8m to the outside wall with traps every so often. Relocating the boiler next to an outside wall isn't really possible without putting it in the living room. I am potentially looking at replacing it due to...
