not cut up the cable. But smart com cable splits into two parts, a 4 core and 2 core. The 4 core provides power and the smart com coms, the 2 wire the com ip coms. You certainly need both to power the unit up. But you can program the com ip module and not the smart com if it’s not in use.

Just my need to double check the route of the power cable from the panel to the fused spur so you dont screw through it with another box. As for which panels lots of options. Sensors look basic but in decent condition, so if they are working I wouldn't bother changing them unless you want to.

As for panels lots of options, the cp8 isn’t a very big panel so how much space is around it may limit your options. Seen them squeezed in and seen others with plenty of space and in an easily accessible area.
