    Sounds like you have sn expansion problem. The rad full of air was masking this problem. Search the frequently asked questions it will be under expansion vessel.

    Sorry ups2 15-50/60 is direct replacement.

    Grunfos ups 15/50 is a direct replacement for your pump, just change the head, roughly 95 pound. you could wire a fly lead to this with a 3 pin plug if you wished.

    I wouldn't be happy with a 20+ mm gap. Can you not share the gap maybe with the long side of the bath. As for silicone i use Dow corning.

    Deoends on the tap some have a rubber for underneath and an top.

    If you dont want to leave your heating running drain hot, drain cold leave an open end (tap open). drain central heating but also leave an open end.
