    Moving optima compact alarm

I've had the power off to the alarm for a few hours and the alarm didn't sound. So I presume the battery is working. My question still stands, if I go into engineer mode then disconnect the mains power and each sensor will the bellbox sound? I presume the bellbox is wired in too so will also...

    Moving optima compact alarm

I've not had the panel off. Extending the cabling is not a problem, I just want to know the correct order of doing it? I do not want the external alarm to sound. We don't use the alarm so I wouldn't be replacing it but as it works absolutely fine I don't want to remove it.

    Moving optima compact alarm

There's nothing on the other side other than a radiator and plug socket. There is a fused spur on the floor in the porch but this is not for the alarm.

    Outdoor light - safe zones

Thanks mate. I think I can actually get away with the 150mm on the corners as that's where the wire is fed in from outside. After finding your guide here: https://flameport.com/electric/lighting_circuits/lighting_add_extra_light_from_switch.cs4 I think this will be the best way to do it...

    Moving optima compact alarm

Room is currently stripped in preparation! I'd ideally like to move it to the far wall closer to the roof. I presume the feeds are directly down as the wall it's on now is a stud. Ignore the terrible electrics and exposed pipework. This will also be rectified!

    Asbestos under bitumen?

Been removing gripper rods in our porch due to replacement of the carpet. The flooring is concrete with a bitumen top layer. On a number of the grippers they had been nailed into the floor. Upon removal this brought up areas of the solid bitumen. What I did notice was there's a 'fibrous'...

    Moving optima compact alarm

Recently moved into a new house and the alarm box is in a really unattractive location. I'm wanting to move this out of the way but still keep it as it remains fully operational. I have the code, and I've had it go into tamper which I can cancel with the same code. I also have the engineers...

    Outdoor light - safe zones

Hi All, Thanks for the replies. Just to elaborate further and hopefully make this easier to understand. There is a light attached to the front of the property, the cabling has been run inside the house to a fused spur (I didn't mean socket). This cabling has not been chased into the walls...

    Outdoor light - safe zones

Hi all, Our house has a light attached outside of the porch at the front. This appears to have been spurred into a fused socket and then cables have been run in conduit around the outside of the walls. It looks terrible. For a start, is this acceptable to run an external light from a socket...

Corner damp - windows plastered correctly?

I'm going to dig the plaster out all the way up, so presume I can do this from the inside? I already filled it with foam but it came back pretty fast.

Corner damp - windows plastered correctly?

Noticed there was an ingress of damp in the corners of the upvc windows in the bedroom. It's clearly been doing it for a while as they were mouldy but the previous property owners didn't address it. I dug out the plaster as the rooms in decoration mode to see if I could access the corners and...

    Junction box socket spur

Thanks all, just test fitted the faceplate and it goes on fine. I've now cut the pvc outer sheath right down and I'll wire the socket in when I'm done sanding. Appreciate all the help and I'll bear in mind cables lengths for future sockets.

    Junction box socket spur

Oh definitely, I just thought there was sufficient here. There's approx 8cm cable after the grommet, what's a standard length to cut these too usually?

    Junction box socket spur

They're the exact same length as the socket on the other wall opposite so im struggling to see why itll be a pain? I even offered up the new socket before clipping. I'm also aware the PVC needs trimming back, but I'll wait until the s&e has gone off.

    Junction box socket spur

What have I begun Filled my chase for anyone wondering.

    Junction box socket spur

I'm only intending on running this single chase so didn't really want to buy a full bag of anything. I have sand and cement, premixed interior filler and powdered fillers. Will any of these be suitable?

    Junction box socket spur

Turns out that junction box was infact for the lights downstairs, not the sockets. Classic. I instead ran a spur off the socket opposite which was part of the ringmain. I clipped this onto the joists under the floorboards parallel with the other cables. For filling the chase, can I just...

    Redundant BT extension socket

I've tested 2 and 5 on the extension in the bedroom and I'm getting a 1.8V. Surely I should be reading nothing as the master does not feed this line?

    Junction box socket spur

I'm surprised the maintenance free boxes don't double down with both a screw fitting and a one way sprung loader.

    Junction box socket spur

I'll be replacing it anyway. Does it need fixing if a MF box is used?
