I don't get it. Could you simplify it a bit?

    Surprise, surprise...

Then I think I'll emigrate. China sounds nice... at least when the government abuses you, you're aware of it.

    Surprise, surprise...

http://news.independent.co.uk/world/middle_east/article328526.ece This is pretty shocking. All those deaths just so I can use my car & not have to worry about oil shortages. Am I just naive, or was it always bl**din' obvious?

    would you?

I would give him a lot of hard work (of my choosing) for a year, which would include taking good care of a dog... if after all that he still refused to see the errors of his ways, THEN I would tie several fireworks to him. Even scum like that should be given the chance to change.

    Refinishing stairs

Santastic, am I missing something here? Using the sizes you give, the new overhang for the nosing would surely be 3/8", not 1" ?? If you're building out the risers a constant ½", then the new tread has to be the same width as the original (11") if you want the same nosing... ...and pva would...

    Internal Door Liner Height

Always used to make it 78½" (1994mm)... that's 3mm at the head, & 10mm below - but if it's for yourself, work out exactly the thickness of the floor covering. You wouldn't want 10mm at the floor if you're putting Cushionfloor down. If it's carpet, allow the total thickness + 3mm, plus the 3mm at...

    Weather forecasts!!

Moz is right... the Countryfile forecast is the best. Been watching it for years, it's pretty well spot on. Comes on about 10 mins before the end.

    How's your driving?

    Safety: 70% Aggressiveness: 42.5% Courtesy: 90% Rage: 30% But then, I'm only on a push-bike.

    Carcass fixing

I've never used a pocket hole jig, but I fear that MDF will delaminate as the screw goes in... also a bit dodgy on chipboard? Mark!!! have you used one on these materials successfully?

    chipboard

You both may have got there already, but this explains the process... http://www.northerngrid.org/ngflwebsite/seedtosaw/resources/Eggerimages.htm ...and these have stuff about environmental issues: http://www.artek.fi/linked/en/artek_e_policy.pdf...

    Shiplap (cont) problem...

Yes, that'll do nicely. I don't know why manufacturers don't do that anyway - I've never seen shiplap with a bevelled bottom edge. I guess if there's only 10mm or so cover, a 45° bevel wouldn't leave much to overlap...

    Shiplap (cont) problem...

The "drip" on a shiplap board is not strictly a drip... water will run back against the face of the board below & then go through the "joint" by capillary action, which is why I said earlier that I don't think you'll ever stop it leaking completely. The best you can do is to prevent the water...

    Shiplap (cont) problem...

Sorry for the confusion... I've come to my senses at last. I've been doing my accounts for last year, & I need more time to recover. Rockwool is not the best option here, you don't want to risk getting it wet. I think I would use 2" Jablite or similar polystyrene slabs cut in between the...
