Garden room walls, mix of pir and acoustic?

Just about to start planning the interior insulation for my garden room walls. Studs are 4x2 (95mm). Would there be any kind of advantage to acoustic levels, if I was to put 50mm pir tight against the osb and then squash in 50mm of rockwool acoustic wool/slab, with plasterboard and skim on top...

    What size polytop

I've got 8x2 roof joists on my garden room, so ripped some in half to create 8x1 backing fascia. I'm using 9mm capping upvc fascia and was wondering what size polytop will be sufficient. Depth of timber backing and upvc is about 32mm. Will 30mm doubled up next to each other hold the upvc fascia...

    Tyvek housewrap

Building my garden room and the neighbour has kindly donated some tyvek housewrap left over from his extension. I've used another brand of membrane on a small shed I built, the tyvek stuff feels a lot thinner. The other product felt more like a cloth, where as the tyvek has a more paper feel. Is...

Edpm, OK to glue before fascia?

Great, thanks mate. So maybe leave the contact adhesive edge bit,, think it's meant to be 100mm isn't it? I'm just worried about it getting too cold for the glue but I think that's mainly the water based stuff for the non edge parts isn't it?

Edpm, OK to glue before fascia?

Thanks for replying. There will be a drip and kerb edge. Basically my fascia is damaged and is being redelivered in the next day or so. I took today off to fit the roof before realising the damage. So the main question is, as the trims fit on top of the fascia, can I glue rubber down and fit...

Edpm, OK to glue before fascia?

As it currently is, I have a overhang all around and a timber 7x1 fascia (I have 7x2 roof joists). Osb has been laid and flush to all edges. If the upvc overcap fascia was here and put on first, would it not just fit flush with top of osb roof and then the rubber would get glued to the top and...

Edpm, OK to glue before fascia?

Had my edpm turn up along with my fascias and soffits delivered. Fascia has a big crack, apparently caused by forklift. Was planning on getting my epdm stuck down tomorrow as the weather is about to turn cold down south. Is there any reason why I can't do this without having the fascia on...

    Bifolds garden room

Over hang won't be huge, maybe 300mm from front edge. Apologies but confused about shaving 5mm off as door lintel will be above top of wall plates by around 50mm. Ive got my last roof joist inside of what will be my end studs for the front wall, so set back 90mm from front edge. At the back...

    Bifolds garden room

Yes true. So my 3 walls are currently sat with a wall plate 2300mm high, 8x2 joists on top, overhanging sides and 8x2 laddering for overhang at rear. Bifolds are 2125 with 18mm flooring, so give or take 2145mm, if I put the 8x2's doubled up above the doors with a bit of extra wriggle room, I've...

    Bifolds garden room

Even though the title says garden room? I'm not complaining about lack of responses, actually taking the **** out of my self for asking what I assumed was a silly question!!

    Bifolds garden room

4x2 studs, 3m high max build and got Planning permission. Height isn't an issue other than if I put in 8x2 as lintel they will be higher than the wall plate and because the roof joists are running from side to side rather than to the front, it would make my overhang slightly difficult

Assuming by the lack of info, this is a stupid question and steel will always be better than timber :ROFLMAO:

    Bifolds garden room

Meant to say, no load from roof joists as they run opposite sides

    Bifolds garden room

Got some 3m bifolds coming and was wondering what is suitable to span above. I have some 8x2 laying about,,, would there be much difference in doubling them up vs alternatively using 6x2 flitch beam. Not fussed either way, just want to get it right for the doors TIA

Cold deck, noggin size for ventilation

In fact disregard running front to back, furring would be too big. So I'll run one row of noggins mid span, 1 inch thinner at 7x2 to aid air flow. One last question, would I need to use t&g for roof boards or will my 400mm centre joists have enough fixing points to use straight edge boards
