Do you have knots in the area of the “drying” patches? If you have they may need sealing with shellac before varnish. Have you got a photo you can post? This normally helps members get to quick solution.

I did think of using something in the spindle hole to try and get it to turn - I'll see what I've got that might fit. Hi Matt a big flat head screwdriver would normally move the lock were the spindle goes.

You would think that if the basin outlet is 38mm then the trap is the same. But as you know pipe work sizes can vary and change in certain circumstances, I thought the idea of this site was to point people in the right direction.

Chrome sink outlet 38 mm. Replace that it should fit the traps that you have. Just check it’s 38 mm in width. They also come in 32mm.

Your trap slides inside the outlet, your rubber seal and nut sit on the outlet to receive the trap ,should be straight forward.

Try looking at magnaseal. That should sort all your issues. Hope this helps.

Don’t do it. Your door glass is a toughened glass unit it will be 4/20/4 making it 28 mm the standard size these days. You cannot just replace the broken side the unit comes complete. Any local glass or glazing company will supply and fit for about £85.00. Your other option is to fit a plastic...
