Thanks for reply, the battery has been fitted for 5 1/2 years so I guess it is due for changing, it is still showing 12.25 volts , would a low battery cause it to go into alarm when the mains supply is disconnected

Hi guys just had a chance to have another look at problem, switched mains power off alarm and removed panel cover and reset alarm, while checking wiring after about 45 mins the alarm sounded again and I could not stop alarm so I disconnected the battery in panel and waited abt 15 mins for bell...

Hi guys I have not had a chance to work on the alarm fault, at the moment, to many outside jobs on, I am off to work away for a few weeks tomorrow, so job on hold untill I get back home again, anyway the misses wont use the alarm when I am at work, she frightened it might go off he he :lol:

Yes thats fair comment, but personally I can remember on several occasions going for the cheap option and regretting it and having to buy another making it no cheaper than buying a quality tool in the long run and hopefully it will make the job easier to.

Yes I hear what your saying, but I would of thought there was still a risk of it flashing across the connection while disconnecting or connecting to a live terminal, but maybe a risk worth taking considering the alternative of getting up to the bell box and disconnecting its battery.

No thats the strange thing about it, I will have to have a closer look but when I checked it with multi meter I was getting no voltage at sensor end and getting voltage at cable terminal in control panel.

Because I wouldl have to disconnect live wires and could blow a fuse

Hi I have a problem with one of my pir sensors which stopped working, when I had a look I found no voltage getting to the sensor but there is voltage at the cable terminals in the control pannel so I suspect a cable fault, How can I stop the bell box alarm sounding when I disconnect battery...
