    Drayton Wiser operating questions

From my experience with the product, the flame icon will only show if the temperature is below the set point (but the displayed temp is rounded to 0.5 degrees). As you say the LED will indicate when the hub has kicked on the boiler, but I'd expect the LED to come on immediately when the flame...

    Drayton Wiser operating questions

That doesn't sound right. In my experience it will kick the boiler on more-or-less immediately if the stat is measuring less than the set point, even if it's by 0.1 degree (only shown in 0.5 degree increments on the stat / app main page). I'm using Opentherm but I don't think it's any different...

    How to repressurise strange boiler?

Sorry I just re-read your original post, @SpaghettiCat. Yes, I concur with @Elkato531 and your original thought, the pipes under the sink look like where you would attach the filling loop I linked above. That'll be why you have those two valves in pic 4 - to allow you to unscrew the end caps...

Replacement Thermostatic Cartridge Shower Mixer Valve

Is that a Grohe shower? It'll say on the shower-head if it is. I have something that looks very similar. I fitted this to the top (flow) control to fix it leaking: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00505EXDA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For the bottom (temperature)...

    How to repressurise strange boiler?

If there's a valve somewhere in the system, it would probably look a bit like the black plastic one in this pic: https://www.screwfix.com/p/combi-straight-filling-loop/46605 If you have a filling loop kicking around in a cupboard, it should look like the linked product. Edit: It should be...

    How to repressurise strange boiler?

The plastic container will be the bottom of the condensate syphon. It can be opened to clean it. The five connections, left to right, are: - CH Flow - DHW - Gas inlet - Water in - CH Return It doesn't look like you have an integral filling loop - I think it would bridge between Water In & CH...

Installing an OpenTherm boiler control / thermostat - Gas Safe?

@Stevos this answers your question. You theoretically shouldn't, but you can and it's easy - you now have both a video and detailed instructions on how to do it. I'm absolutely not a plumber - just a customer who also needed Opentherm (albeit on a WB Greenstar) so I have no qualms in saying...

UPVC Door 14 years old, time for a new one?

Worth looking carefully at the gaskets around the door. Do they seal well? Are they perished at all? UPVC gaskets are dead easy to replace yourself if needed. I've been working my way around with this stuff...

How do I turn this radiator off?!

The Ideal manual says this: "Heating systems utilising full thermostatic radiator valve control of temperature in individual rooms should also be fitted with a room thermostat controlling the temperature in a space served by radiators not fitted with such a valve. When thermostatic radiator...

How do I turn this radiator off?!

Probably when someone comes along and tells me that my caution is *******s! Your boiler manual (installation) might have some guidance. I just had a look at the manual for my Bosch Greenstar i, and it says: > All radiators must have > TRVs fitted in all rooms except bathrooms and rooms with...

How do I turn this radiator off?!

Before you do, make sure you don't _need_ to have one radiator always on. It's fairly common for one rad - often the towel rail - to be left without a TRV. Not entirely sure why - probably something to do with pump overrun or allowing the boiler to cool itself back down.

Ideal Boiler Thermostat replacement. Halo, Hive, or other options ?

Apparently, it's complicated: https://community.tado.com/en-gb/discussion/comment/45915/#Comment_45915 I think I saw a Tado rep on a HeatGeek video recently saying that they were going to bring back support in the UK. Not sure where they are with it currently. I do like the concept of a...

Ideal Boiler Thermostat replacement. Halo, Hive, or other options ?

I went with Drayton Wiser, which also has Opentherm support and smart TRVs. Very happy with it so far - good app and everything works even if the Internet is down. The novelty of being able to ask Alexa what the room temperature is hasn't quite worn off yet.

Flat warm roof... does the top deck require additional joists or could it screw through to the main structure?

@^woody^ I think so - it had a slight give to it. Can't say for sure though - I don't have photos of that bit. If it's horribly wrong best don't tell me ;)

Flat warm roof... does the top deck require additional joists or could it screw through to the main structure?

I just had my flat dormer roofs upgraded into warm roof by adding 150mm PIR. So far as I can tell you can just lay the PIR without any additional support other than the boards around the edge. I went up on the roof when it was finished and it supported my weight just fine. Mine was felt...

Roof insulation with plasterboard backing - benefits against cost

Looking at the spec sheet for K7, it looks like you'd typically put that between the rafters, and then use insulated plasterboard (e.g. K118) over the top of the rafters to prevent cold bridging. I don't think K7 has the plasterboard backing - it's just foil-backed.

    Possible condensation in attic?

Moving the fan output should help massively. I expect the roofer will have more specific advice. Hopefully it's more "fit eaves vents and vent tiles" than "reroof with breathable membrane". Might be worth putting down some bin bags underneath the damp patch so you can see if you're getting...

    Possible condensation in attic?

Too much water; not enough ventilation. I'm guessing you probably have a leak if there's enough water to make the felt feel wet; I doubt your loft is so well sealed it would get like that just from moisture coming from inside the house. I would try to find the leak, if there is one, and make...

Repair roof Membrane from the inside.?

I don't see why that wouldn't work. I used the technique shown in the video to repair numerous small and larger splits and it worked fine. The tape comes in wider widths (https://www.screwfix.com/p/bostik-flashband-grey-10m-x-225mm/22704) if you need it. The heat gun (essential in this weather)...
