have you changed the battieries in the room stat ? thats the 1st thing id do. the recivier with the red flashing light does it turn green when the heating is light ?

has the reciever got any lights/buttons on it ?

if its filling up and overflowing down the centre of the siphon then your torbeck valve has failed, you can change the ''gubbings'' easily enough, but inho from experience id change the whole thing, cheap enough to buy a replacement

is the cistern filling up ? or just a shallow pool at the bottom?

check the prv, copper pipe that normally goes to outside and see if its dripping or showing signs of dripping ?

like a previous poster has said remove the trv head off the valve and see what happens then, the trv may just be in a ''warm spot'' of the room and getting a false reading
