Really quick "concrete kitchen floor" question

I suppose that depends on the size of the kitchen. Id rather chase down 300mm then up 300mm than chase 2 metres across.

Really quick "concrete kitchen floor" question

If you have units being fitted, you could run some minitrunking around behind the units and just chase up to each socket/spur. and fit each low level socket surface from the trunking. Dont just hang the cables around willy nilly.

    Dual earth socket fronts

I did some research... I found these web pages. Firstly the Mk page re- 2746K http://www.mkelectric.co.uk/products/item.asp?itemid=4218&rangeid=1030 and http://www.plasa.org/standards/faq/faq.asp?FAQID=992253099 So I guess this is something new. Interesting post this...we live and learn.

    Dual earth socket fronts

Am I missing something here? Maybe I am. Surely the reason for dual earth is for a clean earth supply for the computers. This would go back to a seperate Earth terminal at the mains. This stops fault spikes from damaging Computers. Ive never heard of a second earth in case the first one gets...

Hi Ravey, You are trying to connect to a switch where there isnt a neutral...you need to pick up a neutral for the return. If you look at the reference notes at the top of this board... http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7553 If you look at the drawing you will see the switch is on...

Is Fridge-Freezer Causing MCB to Trip?

This is a domestic fridge we're talking about here, not a Condenser that has fans drawing cool air through it ALA Superstore refrigeration packs. Even those have been struggling this summer! I agree its unlikely ( i did say that) but it is possible. If it was me Id make sure and clamp the feed...

    best way to chase cables?

There is a device that exists. it is always moaning, turns up late and sometimes still drunk from the night before, seems to have a new tattoo every time he turns up for work, makes awful tea and skips college. Its called an Apprentice

    Garage consumer unit

I cant see the point of putting in a RCD into a garage CU unless its directly built onto the side of the house. With a seperate garage, theres a cable leaving the house and as its inadvisable to fit 2 RCDs in conjunction with each other, this cable needs to be RCD protected. In my view I would...

    best way to chase cables?

"Every damn cable" ? Dont be too harsh on cable, its our lifeblood  I used to get the labourers to do all the chasing but as you are doing it yourself, you already mentioned a grinder....TONS of dust but its the quickest way on all surfaces, Some walls are especially hard, such as...

    Replacing Fluorescent Starters

It would probably be easier to explain the princible of flourescence, you should then be able to work it out yourself...assuming you have Electrical training. When mains voltage is applied to the flourescent circuit, the starter (which is basically a switch) allows current to flow through the...

Is Fridge-Freezer Causing MCB to Trip?

Do let us know what is causing it, and dont just assume that because it doesnt happen again that it is now resolved, some faults seem to stop simply because the actual short of the cables have burned away enough of a gap so a spark cant jump, in which case you may have lost some ring integrity...

    Help! Can\\\'t decide on anything!

You should have had the electrics done first. You have presumably done the tiling etc so I would suggest that either you do as Fireman says and vent it via the space above or, fit a 4" extractor fan at high level so you can discretely feed it from above. You do however need to feed it via a 3...
