Soil Pipe & WC Connection planning problem

I'm using the concertina type as a stop gap and it doesn't appear to have too much clag stuck in there after 3 weeks. I'd not want to use it as a permanent solution though. As far as the pipe clips being off the wall if you use a 90 deg, you'd have to bed it into the wall somehow where it...

    Worcester-Bosch Condense Syphon Filling programme

Hi I've noticed that the condensing drain is just dripping and not pouring every now and then. It was fine a few weeks ago but after a couple of power interruptions, it's now just dripping, constantly. Does the syphon need to be filled again to stop this (i.e. re-commission) or is it a fault...

Soil Pipe & WC Connection planning problem

Good idea Tickly, you could set the 45 deg fitting to the exact height up the wall to get the distance required (pythagoras theorem etc), then go through. I've had a bad experience with solvent weld in the past and so now use lots more solvent than looks right, but you know it's not going to...

Soil Pipe & WC Connection planning problem

Hi Alex Not a hundy on what you're on about but I'm assuming that you want the soil pipe to pop out of the wall in the right position so you don't have any boxing in to do? If so, you can offset the inlet through the wall with whatever 110mm fittings necessary provided you still meet the regs...

    Soil Vent Regs

Hi Looking at the regs, it states that a soil vent, if not more than 3000mm away from an opening, has to be 900mm above etc. If the vent is around the corner from the nearest opening but less than 3000mm, does it still need to be raised and set out around the gutter? Cheers rcs

    Suspended Floor Insulation

Hi Has anyone successfully insulated under a suspended floor? Wondering what was used to hold up the insulation material against the underside of the floor. I figure some netting, just wondering where it might come from. Cheers rcs

    Brick Stitching

Well we have more cracks than you can shake a stick at. It hasn't been touched for 50 years or so (1920's house)and is non progressive (according to the Engineer but I'm suspicious). My main concern is that I'm re-doing the bathroom and putting in a tiled shower. I'm planning on batoning...

    Brick Stitching

I have to say, it appears incredibly easy, which is one reason I posted. Have you actually done it Woody? Was it done as an Engineer had prescibed it? I've read somewhere that you can't just do it 'willy-nilly' if you've got a suspicious crack (fnar fnar). Our remedial work was to chock out...

    Brick Stitching

Many Thanks Has anyone actually done this work? Has it been at the instruction of an engineer or fix the reason for movement and stitch it up? Cheers

    Low water flow.

The part that I saw in a trench that was dug to relay some drains, like you say, looked like lead. There was also a mixture of lead and steel in the house (which has now all gone), so it would not be unreasonable to go down that route. Either way, thanks for your help. Much appreciated. rcs

    Brick Stitching

Hi Has anyone ever done any brick stitching and does anyone know where you can buy the stuff from. I know that you can have either glass fibre rods or some form of steel but Google doesn't want to tell me where to get the sticks and adhesive from. Hope someone can help. Many Thanks rcs

    Low water flow.

So referring to your previous post, as we have steel in the drive, I'm guessing that the guys that do the connection will notice if it's lead or steel or would they notice before it gets that far?

    Low water flow.

Thanks BoxBasher. Will look into it further next week. Do you happen to know what the S.T. connection fee is? Cheers

    Low water flow.

Thanks Boxbasher Spoke to them on the number you recommended (Saturday) but they automatically put you through to "new connections" for such matters. Will try again on Monday. I guess even though you'd be replacing the 'lead' in the drive(as a self lay), you'd still be subject to the...

    Low water flow.

I know what you mean, the expense is all relative. Who did you get this work done through? Was it through New Connections for you local water company? I spoke with them and I'd have to send in a request and they'd give me a price. I'd be expecting about £500. Sound familiar? rcs

    Low water flow.

Oops, yes sorry, we're in Worcestershire. Who might be able to inspect the trenching/laying? Are plumbers/contractors often inspectors or are there specific ones from the authority? Also, at the moment, I am unable to turn off the stopcock in the street. What would the water board do if it...
