    Noisy Mira shower

Hi. We had a similar problem, sounded like the water was boiling inside, when the shower was on and water pressure varying. It was under a 2 year warranty and a repairman came and changed most of the insides. 2 years later, the same happened again, so we sold the house . Well we moved...

    Visible Subsidence

Hi Static. Maybe I should change my location.....the house is in the UK, circa 1929, 2 storey, 3 bed, rendered, quarry tiles, slate dpc etc. We're looking at renovating it later in the year. The cracks are knocking on 5mm, the survey has stated roof trusses are under strain and upstairs...

    Rewiring access

Hi Guys The house is in the UK and we're looking at popping back and renovating it later in the year. Trying to get my head round the best sequence to do things but I'm guessing the rewire should be way up there in front. As far as regs go here, you can't touch a thing without being...

    Visible Subsidence

Hi We have quite noticeable subsidence at the front of our property and a surveyor has blamed it on conifers (or similar) being removed many years ago. The sewers inspection hole is infested with dead roots and so it looks pretty grim at the onset. My question is, if the trees were removed...

    Replacement Ceiling

Hi We have flat finish Lathe and Plaster ceilings in dire need of some TLC and looking into changing them. Can we board straight over them, screwing into the joists above or do we need to baton and then board? I've changed a plasterboard ceiling before and know how messy that is, let alone a...

    Need more sockets!

Hi Damage You could run a spur if the existing socket is on the ring (pop the front off the socket and see if there is more than one wire connected, if so, you're good to go) but unsure on regs so you'd need to look into this to DIY. The loads you are looking at wouldn't be a problem for this...

    Rewiring access

Hi First post on this forum, so a big hello! I'm looking at renovating a house which needs rewiring and I'm wondering how much access is required. There are ceilings that need renewing and floors to be lifted for other work but is it better to get the rewiring done with that access made...
