    Glue Down LVT - Dip

I’m going to get someone else to come and have a look and see if they can just “fill in” and smooth the dip, then take that (and the cost to buy more flooring) out of what I pay, which I think is the only reasonable option I’ve got

    Glue Down LVT - Dip

Chipboard was all level, as was the ply (although used 4mm which he specified). Not sure on whether it was a trowel or pin leveller

    Glue Down LVT - Dip

The whole house had new chipboard, then ply, then he's taken responsibility for all latex, primer, fitting and adhesive. My hope is that I can get someone to just take up that impacted area to fill the dip and feather it to give a smooth finish, whereas he is suggesting that it would all need...

    Glue Down LVT - Dip

Thanks Wayners, sadly it does seem to be going down an unpleasant route, as they are taking no accountability and blaming everything else (including asking why I didn't put a level on it earlier)! Thankfully haven't paid a big chunk of the money so will get someone independent in to assess how...

    Glue Down LVT - Dip

Hi, I've paid to have LVT glue down put down, with the floor fitter putting down latex on top of plywood (on top of chipboard then a suspended timber floor). Most of it is fine, but there is a significant dip in one area (typically in what will be a much-used walkway). I had pointed this out...

    Moisture in Latex / Screed

Thanks so much - have put a condensing dehumidifier and sealed the two areas off with polythene, and already in a day it’s hugely improved, so I’m sure I’ll be good to go in a week. Thanks so much for the help and advice

    Moisture in Latex / Screed

Hi Crazydave, I think the tool that the chap I had round used is a protimeter - they grey ones in the photo? But he was referring to the MAX REL figure, rather than the RH %, which my online research seems to suggest is the one that matters. Flooring wise it will be glue down LVT tiles in that...

    Moisture in Latex / Screed

Thanks opps, really appreciate it. The initial LVT tiles around that damp area were very easy to come up, whereas the ones remaining I’d have to forecably remove, which as a layman I’m assuming is similar to your wallpaper paste test

    Moisture in Latex / Screed

Hi, We are doing the final parts of our renovation and unfortunately had a leak in a stud wall due to a faulty join that we think went overnight the first night the boiler was left on. It has left the patches of wet you see here, so have had to strip everything out and am getting some equipment...

    MVHR - Poor Install

It was for them to design, supply and install, so I think legally I’m in a good place, just sadly struggling for them to resolve it in the timescales needed. Thanks for the notes on Part F and L, I’ve looked into those and both are explicit that all ducting should be insulated whether in a cold...

    MVHR - Poor Install

Thanks Stem, really appreciate it. Confirms my suspicions that the install is missing a very significant element! Job for me it looks like! Assuming I can take the puppies down from where they have been tacked up, is simply running rockwool insulation over them likely to be sufficient (and for...

    MVHR - Poor Install

Thanks for your reply stem. I do intend to run the system all year (we’ve done away with things like trickle vents and have air con running in kids bedrooms in summer). And so the black ducting in all of the photos are the ducts carrying air from and to rooms to the manifold, which in then has...

    MVHR - Poor Install

Hi, I hired a company to supply and install an MVHR system in my bungalow, and to say I have significant concerns about their performance is an understatement! Some of it I know enough about and am picking up with them (e.g. the 'fixes' to holes they've made), but I'm concerned about the...

Warm Flat Roof and Cold Pitched Roof Join - Confused

Thanks Catlad, so just extend the PIR as far as I can, then fill the gap indicated with as much rockwool insulation as I can? Thanks again

Warm Flat Roof and Cold Pitched Roof Join - Confused

I’m after some advice please. I’ve seen a Reddit user with my exact query, but they don’t look like they ever got a response. Basically I’m having some building work done but have been left confused by the join between the warm and cold roof. I have borrowed a sketch of what the situation...

1950s Bungalow Ventilation Options - Suspended Timber Floor - MVHR / PIV etc?

Just to provide an update on this, we have opted to go with the MVHR system, with supply ducts in bedrooms located in wardrobes to reduce noise (with vents in the joinery to allow the air to flow in). I'll come back and update when we find out how successful it's been at the turn of the year!

    MVHR - How Loud?

Thanks Wayners, I’m really after listening to one myself in person. The video is good, but given the amount it’ll cost I really want to hear it with my own two ears

    MVHR - How Loud?

Hi Everyone, I am exploring MVHR units and on the cusp of instructing Elite Renewables (based in Croydon), but I’m trying to find somewhere that I can listen to a system in operation. I’m based in Berkshire but at the moment the only system I could potentially get to is at their offices, which...

1950s Bungalow Ventilation Options - Suspended Timber Floor - MVHR / PIV etc?

Thanks again for the replies, really appreciated. I think I'm going to try and do some research and find some companies that provide an MVHR design service, as they should hopefully also be able to inform me on the best set up for my needs.
