Help - Building control needed or not

Thanks Richard, I phoned LABC again today, and they confirmed I do not need building control, so long as its a private drain, which it is, and we put in some support. I have made a note of the conversation and who I spoke to, and will keep it should there be any future queries. Mr brother in law...

Help - Building control needed or not

Thanks Woody, as I said BC not interested when I phoned them. Neighbour a bit twitchy, do you think a good idea if we take take photo's at each stage as proof, and if neighbour does complain to BC, would that be suffice.

Help - Building control needed or not

Thanks Richard, LABC said not internested as conserv is excluded, to contact the local water authority. As it is a private drain, they have nothing to do with it ??

Help - Building control needed or not

Help, we are building a self build conservatory, and have in writing that we don't need Planning permission. I have contacted Building Control and they say conservatory excluded, even though we go over a shared drain. We are planning to dig down to drain and support drain with concrete, and...

Have a Potterton boiler installed last november, onto an old central heating system. We have replaced two rads out of 6, and added thermostats on all but 1 radiator. I have had to top the water up a couple of times, but only when the heating system is on. Any idea's why the water pressure on...

Any advice on building over shared drain

Thanks noseall its great to get some sense from someone, its like pulling teeth trying to get the right info. The drain is about 1 foot down. If we only need to go down 2 bricks deep for the foundations, which of your 3 options would I expect the brickie to do.

Any advice on building over shared drain

Thanks, what to you mean by bridge the drain, and what is the invert. I am waiting for a decent brickie to come around to quote on foundations. I have had one rip off quote, and another cheaper quote but didn't seem that concerned about the drain, or inspection chamber position ( right next to...

Any advice on building over shared drain

We have a privately owned, but shared drain (waste) which runs right under the middle of our patio. It appears that everyones waste runs long the drain, and along ours and out to the road. Was thinking of putting a conservatory up, but type of conny is exempt from planning permission and...

    Water Main - Manhole

Thanks, and Yes I am getting a brickie in, for the foundations, well beyond my means. We are building the conservatory ourselves, as brother got one last year, and put it up, so sorted there. Just wanted to get some advice, woman on her own and all that, before brickies come round for estimates.

    Water Main - Manhole

Its a self build conservatory 11ft by 9ft, with full length windows, no dwarf wall needed. just 2 bricks down and and above. The conservatory wall runs right along side it, and the man hole cover just fits under a lip of the wall before the glass walls. Just thought I might need some support...

    Water Main - Manhole

Yes your are right, it is a B&Q self build 11ft by 9ft conservatory. It is full length glass, so no dwarf wall required, but we need to go down 2 bricks, and 2 bricks above for foundation. The small wall will run right along side the man hole, and above it the man hole cover will sit just under...

    Water Main - Manhole

We are putting a conservatory up, and go right up to the edge of the water main man hole cover. Having looked into this, we now realise that we are likely to have to brick over about 3 inches of the bricks of the manhole. Can something be used to support it. We are only putting about 2 bricks...
