Can't find cold water Isolator (stopcock)

I am looking to replace a Power Shower at home. It's straight replacement with Power and cold water. The Power is a switch on the consumer unit. My issue is that I can't find an isolator for the cold water feed. The pipe comes out through a tile. The house is new and there are no exposed pipes...

    Brake Caliper specialists please?!

the hollow side goes into the Caliper, there is a threaded shaft with a ball on the end then rests inside the piston. when the shaft is rotated by the Caliper motor it moves in and out pushing the piston against the pads. The hollow side is inside the caliper and was full of fluid when it was...

    Brake Caliper specialists please?!

Thanks Harry, there are two of us doing it. The front Discs and Pads were simple but when doing the rears it turned into a bit of a challenge! Still, every problem is the opportunity to learn :)

    Brake Caliper specialists please?!

Hi all While changing brake pads on a Merc A180 I damaged the brake piston so I have one on order. I know how it goes back on but should the rear/hollow of the replacement Piston be filled with fluid first or does the piston fill up when I unclamp the brake fluid pipe? Where does the air in...

How to calculate cost of Electric CH Boiler

Wow - some comprehensive answers - great information. I agree that Ground Source Heat Pumps are possibly the future. Thanks @flameport for the rather obvious  calculation - and yes, it's quite an expensive conversion. I won't be making the change anytime soon. Kevin

How to calculate cost of Electric CH Boiler

Hi Hyporthetical question: If I replaced my Gas CH Boiler with an Electric CH Boiler, how much would my Electric bill be? How do I calculate, using my existing gas usage, how much the equivalent Electric usage would cost? Any pointers would be great, Kevin

    Artificial Grass Electric Shock

Chaps My Gardin has artificial Grass. After a few minutes walking on it if you touch anything metal you get a sizeable shock. My dog yelps everytime he puts his nose on anything. Is it possible to Earth (parden the pun) the lawn or somehow mitigate the static build up? Kevin

    Boiler banging - not kettling

I notice a number of threads on a similar subject with no answer and as my issue was resolved, this might help someone in future. Thanks to @footprints for the steer. I rang Gloworm (Valiant) as the boiler was within warranty. It is a known issue and they sent an Engineer out within 2 days -...

    Boiler banging - not kettling

Footprints Thanks for responding. The original Installer took 9 weeks of badgering to sort our snags and to commission the Boiler. The pump was running constantly during this time - I had to manually open the Zone valves to stop leaks. Is there anything that can be done regarding expansion? Kevin

    Boiler banging - not kettling

Hi I have a 3 month old Glowrom Ultimate 25R. When it starts up when cold, it makes the occasional, single banging noise like two 4 by 4 planks being banged together. It will happen a half dozen times in the first 30 minutes then hardly at all for the rest of the day. The CH pump is definitely...

    Help choosing correct Router blade.

@JobAndKnock Thanks for the advice. The HSS cutter worked perfectly.

    Help choosing correct Router blade.

@JobAndKnock Thanks for the advice, all good. I have purchased a HSS cutter rather than the Helix and I'll do some test cuts. If it doesn't work as intended I stump up the 40 quid for a Helix cutter.

    Help choosing correct Router blade.

@Notch7 Thanks for the reply. So I guess buy "up cut" you mean clamping it on end, setting the length to 10mm cutting across the face? Forgive my ignorance, how would I set the 3mm?

    Help choosing correct Router blade.

Chaps I have a 600mm X 200mm x 10mm piece of Acrylic. I need to shave 10mm off one face down 3 edges and 20mm off the other to a depth of 3mm. I have attached an image to demonstrate. My question is - I'm a bit lost, which Router Bit do I need? All advice gratefully received, Kevin

Nest Thermostat and Baxi Solo 18 - need wiring advice

My Control Box has an 8 way Connector - not a 10 way as in the diagram. The Box was there before the Baxi was fitted. How do I tell which set of wires is the Thermostat?!

Nest Thermostat and Baxi Solo 18 - need wiring advice

EFL I was just about to type "Legend!" but I see that the Diagram on page 14 does related to the connectors. I have included the manual PCB diagram and a Photo of the PCB - I presume yellow and grey loops are CH and HW loops - the CH loop is the one that needs splitting off to the Nest - but...
