    oak cladding on concrete block

Thanks for the replies. The oak cladding is seasoned and the battens are thicker than the cladding so maybe I've underestimated the size of them. There's no breathable membrane though. Is that a definite requirement?

How big should an expansion loop be?

Thanks Nige F. I did lay it in a poly duct pipe as requested by my OFTEC QUALIFIED HEATING ENGINEER. He also told me about the 1% expansion but he's away at the moment so I thought I 'd ask on this forum which has always been very helpful in the past.

lintels over 8ft door - cavity wall

The beam on the inner leaf is supporting a trussed tiled roof. The wall is cavity. Whatever is over he opening on the outer skin has to support the weight of the doors but as they run rollers in a track it has to be well rigid.

lintels over 8ft door - cavity wall

Sorry Noseall, when you say timber beam what size do you reckon it would need to be to give the rigidity for the doors to be reliable. I'd like to use green oak for the lintel but am I right in thinking that that might move too much?
