    PIR Positioning

Mind reader! Was putting it off incase someone might've suggested a simpler PIR method (really didn't want to cut up the door frame) But thinking about it, a brown flush-mount contact wouldn't look too bad eh. Throw in a contact on the sliding door along with one or two Quad element PIRs (like...

    PIR Positioning

It’s a tricky one as the kitchen door opens the wrong way round. I could put the PIR in the top-left corner but then it wouldn’t be very quick at catching someone walking through the kitchen door or sliding door. I could use multiple sensors across the room but still trying to work out where

    PIR Positioning

I’ve read through manuals by Pyronix and Texecom and while I get all the usual avoid heat sources, what they don’t explain is if the light from a window can’t be in a PIR’s field of view or just can’t be directly in its lens. I could go 360 but corner placement would be desirable since there...

    PIR Positioning

Fitting new wired PIR(s) for my lounge and I've had a couple ideas for positioning already, though this one's a bit of a unique challenge. The sliding door lets a lot of light in and the top left corner has a radiator beneath it. It would also struggle to catch an intruder coming through the...

Best wire strippers for alarm cable

Do you use the Knipex for the smaller inner cables as well? Haven’t quite cracked the fingernail method

Best wire strippers for alarm cable

Looking to purchase a new wire stripper to help with stripping 6-core alarm cable. Tried a few of those automatic strippers but found them hit or miss, they'd either miss the cable entirely or strip with a few threads cut. Any ideas? Alarm cable cores are 24-25awg and so far I haven't found...

Thoughts on newer Scantronic EN, PD and I-ON panels?

Cheers - I also prefer proper wired systems though I’ve seen a few of the older generation I-ON panels up for sale at decent prices. Used scanny 9651 panels are selling like the gold rush now, and the prices are actually quite expensive now

Thoughts on newer Scantronic EN, PD and I-ON panels?

DIY but experiences for either much appreciated. Have friends who are installers but they mainly do fire panels and the odd Pyronix Enforcer or Euro 46 install

Thoughts on newer Scantronic EN, PD and I-ON panels?

Seen some mixed opinions on the newer I-ON range of Scantronic panels - anyone willing to share some experiences working with them? The older panels like the 9651, 9853 were definitely the best, but what problems have people and with the newer panels (even ones like the newer 9651PD are...
