Ok so u have dug out a bit next to the back of the garage where the earth was up to DPC level. But don't know what to do about this bit of concrete below the neighbours fence which is above dpc. Anyone any suggestions? Cheers. Ads

Thanks. I would prefer to try and stop it getting in but i don't see a way of doing that without digging the floor up and putting a DPM in and up in to the brick join. Just wondering if there is a easier way that is less involved.

Thanks for the tip. I was going to have a unit there to house my car cleaning stuff. Looks like it will have to be off the floor. Is there anything i can use to seal below the dpc to the floor to stop any damp coming in under the dpc or is it a lost cause?

Correct, there doesn't look to be any straps, built 1983 / 4 so guess that it wasn't part of building regs then? So I could put joists from wall plate to above garage door on the RSJ, but I'm concerned about getting them in without taking tiles off etc. Or I could fix a wall plate to the gable...

Thanks for the input. I'm now thinking of putting joists between the gable walls above the truss bottom chords. I have lots of height to play with and then it will be independent from the roof trusses. My only concern is how to attach joist hangers to the gable walls. It is only single skin...

I would prefer to put a gully grate on but i can't find the right size. 6"x6" is all i can seem to find. Do you know where I can find the correct size please?

Thought I would update this thread as I had the ladders delivered yesterday. They feel really solid and although only used them to go up to window height so far seem perfect for the jobs I will need them for. Only thing I would say is I find the stabiliser bar gets in the way a bit when setting...
