    Potty Suprima problem.

I have to go back on a job tomorrow that has got me stumped, but hopefully the regulars may give me some pointers before I go. I powerflushed a Potterton Suprima powered conventional system today and everything was fine, the symptons were a really sluggish C/H system system that would take an...

Advice for getting new boiler/heating quotes

I agree with DP.. I can't stress enough the importance of getting all the companies to quote on the same work schedule. I get soooooo p'd off by quoting on doing the job properly, using only good makes of boiler/controls etc only to find out that somebody else has been in and quoted on cheap...

Major problem with stop cock on mains supply - help needed

I have used gas a few times to freeze pipework very successfully and I now have a electric freezer (which is the Dogs Cahooners) why go to that expense of buying a arctic freeze kit for 1 job? I am sure most reputable hire shops hire out the freezing machines now for about £40/day, these give...

Anyone had real life experience of Gledhill Torrent Direct?

I may be wrong on this..... When I did the unvented course 3 or 4 months ago the college wanted proof that I was either CORGI registered or a qualified plumber. I am not sure if this is a legal requirement or just an internal college thing. Stuart

To plume or not to plume that is the question..

Excellent... I will get my spade out and dig, dig, dig. If I find any Roman artifacts I will know that I've gone to deep. Mind you I am not sure the Romans made it to Croydon. Thanks for the replies. Stuart

To plume or not to plume that is the question..

Thanks Tony... Sorry about the delay in getting back to you but PC had to have it's annual service. I think you are right, it is definately a written permission job just to cover myself. The plume management idea can't be used on the maisonette property due to it terminating under the...

To plume or not to plume that is the question..

I have been asked to quote on installing 2 boilers in 2 different style properties but both on the same 1970's private estate that had warm air heating installed, my questions are abut the "Nuisance factor" of a pluming boiler. Property 1... The only place to install the boiler in this 1...

    Main 30HE combi or other?

I think the Platinum is a good choice if you are thinking of selling your property and want to offer this as a selling point, 5 year G'tees are not to be sniffed at. The only disadvantage is the boilers are rubbish (Only joking Potty & Baxi supporters.) The Platinum and Gold versions are just...

powerflush machine which is best buy....

I have finally taken the plunge and bought the KAMCO (I was so impressed with talking to the top man at the PHEX at Chelsea last year) I think the secret is to line up a few bits of work to cover the cost of it. I took on 3 boiler installs, a complete C/H job and a whole house radiator change...

    Pluming nuisance

Yes there is a new plume divertor kit available for Worcesters, in fact I think there are 3 different options (One of them looks like a submarine periscope and it carries the plume up about 1 metre before releasing it to the atmosphere. Check out your local merchants and they will advise.

    Ravenheat 820/20 thermocouple question..

Thanks Chris.. I was going a bit from memory, but I have since got it from my van and had a proper look. You are right it must be a dry job as there is no way that the collar would ever hold back any water. Thanks mate.

    Ravenheat 820/20 thermocouple question..

Tony.. The thermocouple looks like a normal one except about half way down the length is a plastic T piece and out of one side of this T two pieces of wire go down and connect either side of a metal disc that is held onto the pipe by a small metal collar with 2 screws. I have just examined it...

    Ravenheat 820/20 thermocouple question..

Maybe a stupid question but... When replacing a Ravenheat Thermocouple with an attached sensor on the flow pipe, does this just attach to the surface of the pipe or is a boiler airlock job.

    BAXI Bermuda problem....

Once again thanks for the replies (and a quick message to any of the contributors of the previous posts who seem to doubt my Gas fitting competence purely based on the way that I described the tests that I carried out, I would probably prefer if you just refrained from bothering to answer at...

    BAXI Bermuda problem....

Thanks for the replies gents. Sorry about the confusion.. yes I checked the pressure at the appliance without it working just to check the amount of gas pressure before doing anything else, I then attached my gauge to the other test nipple on the Honeywell Valve and with the appliance working...

    BAXI Bermuda problem....

But Mikey, the flame picture is very good, the flame does occasionally climb up the H/E so I would gather that that means it is to high. but there are no signs of visible cracks and the injectors look very clean.
