Venturis are a pain on all Halsteads of the era, either partially obstructed with corrosion or plastic ones melted down. Either way when it goes to high flame the air switch drops out and locks out.

Check the circulating pump for the store........ sounds like its failed so burner only heats the store a bit until it cuts out on temp

This sounds awful like a temperature related issue be it circulation, pump issues or possibly faulty thermisters, boiler fires up then runs until hot enough then waits until the overheat stat has cooled then round the houses again. Havent checked the fault lights for the C25 in the manual so...

Miele 5280 HEPA hoover, hoover packed up, checked and power supply up to motor. Black and brown wires have 240v on them so Im suspecting the motor . If this is the case can any one confirm my suspicions and is there any way of testing the motor ?...... and is the part expensive?? I am a boiler...

Depends on what boiler......... most plate heat exchangers are in the lower section at the back and can be obstructed with hard water conditions or sludge . But........ is the hot water working okay???..... If so why replace the PHE ??..... Power flushes can be done by any decent firm and...

I know where you are coming from, we look after all Homeserve stuff up here in SE Scotland and we are asked to to notify if systems are totally gunged up and rightly so in most cases . I tend to only report the real basket cases as the soft water up here means it isnt too aggressive on systems...

Did he check and clean or change the tank filter??....... had a few of late where its just choked and starving the burner of oil. Sit for a few minutes the oil seeps through so you get a wee bit longer or the flame cuts in and out as the pressure fluctuates from the pump and sometimes locks...

Lots of problems with the thermisters on these too....... Make sure correct one fitted for 40FF........

Mixing valve faulty......... reading the crystal ball here but it sounds like a thermal store with one pump for the boiler to heat the cylinder and one for heating, usually has a mixing valve to control hot water temp...... could be goosed???/

Pilot injector partially blocked, soon as main flame lights the pilot pressure drops off and it intermittently loses the signal to the pcb and gas valve. Only real cure is to clean the pilot injector :D
