    I have no hard evidence to back up my claim but the majority of electricians I work with and installations I work on use the grey as neutral.

    The industry standard is to use grey as neutral, and whilst it's not mandatory it would be much easier for everyone if it were.

    A good electrician should be able to do the wiring for you. Cat6 is good for phones, computer network, CCTV, HDTV, and all sorts of other things, but the alarm should be wired in proper alarm cable. The speakers will probably work on cat6 but would be best using proper speaker cable.

    Using your six gang is fine and means less wiring for you and therefore less to go wrong. Personally I'd go with your original plan.

    If you've got a wylex cu then you MUST use wylex devices in it. Mix and match within a cu is not acceptable.
