    Galvanised conduit in domestic application

The norm in that sort of situation would be to use a through box to form the containment and mount the light fitting directly onto the box.

    Fuse sizes!

That supply is properly fused. It relies on the substation fuses for fault protection and the cutout fuse for overload protection. No different to the now slightly out of date switch fuse fed from a busbar chamber arrangement as found in virtually all older industrial installations.

    Isolating a Consumer Unit

The reality is that most electricians will either pull the cutout or work live on the meter / henleys, but neither is really a good idea and definitely not recommended on here.

Water coming from underside of shower unit when on.

Try running the shower without the shower head connected to the hose. If the head has got scaled up it causes a reduction in flow and an increase in pressure which may cause the prv to operate.

Was it ever acceptable to join multiple cables

It's never been acceptable. It's certainly not uncommon and whilst not good at all it's not that bad on the context of many electrical based bodges encountered on a dad to day basis.

Equipontal Bonding Gas Main (plus other pipes?)

You only need to bond extraneous metalwork, so basically any metallic service which enters your house from the street. Normally this is just the gas and water supply.

    Alarm cabling major error !

Time to call an alarm person I'm afraid. You've already blown at least one fuse in the end station and randomly guessing what goes where just won't work. Also there's the issue of making a reliable joint on all those wires.

Steam Generator need an isolating switch?

All heating elements must have a local DP isolator, but there is no reason why it can't be sited in the loft next to the generator.
