    Bathroom downlight positions...help needed please

Good idea, so when you lay back in the bath and close your eyes at least you have a meaningful pattern burned into your retina, rather than a boring grid. But on the other hand, and like @pete01 ‘s pattern, you need five lights, and dazzystar only has four.

    Neutral-Earth Voltage 120V

Step 1 is turn the mains off.

    Neutral-Earth Voltage 120V

No. The voltage will either be zero, or it will be some confusing floating voltage induced by something.

Storing glyphosphate in van and spraying it

What sort of tree is it? Can I see a mature trunk that has been removed at some point?

    Neutral-Earth Voltage 120V

You have a multimeter, right? Turn off the main switch. Get an extension lead, plug it in to a socket near this light fitting. Set meter to continuity (low resistance). Poke one probe into the extension lead’s earth hole. Toch other probe on light’s earth. There should be continuity, but...

    Fridge-freezer is dying

The old one is branded LEC; I don’t have the model number handy. It is a bit shorter than is typical; it’s about 1550 high, rather than ~1700. There aren’t many models of this size available.

    TV sockets - isolated / non-isolated

Ah yes, DC for satellite amplifiers etc. We do have an aerial amplifier but it's powered locally. Thanks.

    TV sockets - isolated / non-isolated

Does anyone know about this? TV aerial sockets are available as "isolated" and "non-isolated". I presume that the isolated ones have a capacitor or inductor - I don't think I've ever seen one of those. What's the rationale behind this? Which should I fit? Thanks.

Yes, check what insurance requires. Same for locks, window locks etc.

    Fridge-freezer is dying

Thanks everyone. I note no-one suggests trying to replace the compressor. A replacement freezer is on order. The existing one is now wrapped in insulation in the unheated kitchen and is still well below zero; I’ve moved a few nice things to a neighbour’s freezer. It is kept absolutely rammed...

“Are you telling me how to do my feckin job? How would you like it if I came round telling you how to do your feckin job you feckin idiot. I’ve swapped flow and return on more boilers than you’ve had hot dinners and no-one else has ever feckin complained, you feckin nob.” “No we don’t fit those...

Dishwasher - where to install water supply and drain hose

That link seems to have a single appliance connection, like the existing one. You need one with two appliance connections, one for the existing washing machine hose and one for the new dishwasher hose. Search for “MCALPINE DOUBLE APPLIANCE TRAP”. You can either use a “Y-Piece” to tee...

Hive installation broke my PCB on boiler

I think the issue is that now the boiler PCB has been fried it needs to be replaced, and he may need to be gas-safe to do that even if the original thermostat connection didn’t need it. On at least some boilers, after replacing the PCB you have to do some gas flow rate (????) adjustments...

Insulating curved timber frame bay in 1935 art deco house

Things to consider: price, ease of handling (“traditional” fibreglass is unpleasant, but some modern products are softer), acoustic properties (would you appreciate more sound-proofing here?), local availability.

Insulating curved timber frame bay in 1935 art deco house

Vermiculite is a poor insulator compared to modern materials. It also absorbs moisture, which may not be ideal in this case. If you want something that you can pour in, consider polystyrene beads. Beware that poured-in insulation tends to find its way out of the bottom of the space you're...

A really very silly question - if I may please ?

Fine for pheasants but too deep for small birds. Plant pot saucer, as suggested above, is better for them.
