Is that an easy job? Sink Drain replacement?

Check how the basin is fixed to the wall. Are there substantial screws, or is it just siliconed? You may be able to remove the pedestal by cutting away the silicone at the floor and then sliding / wiggling it out, leaving the basin held (more or less precariously) by the screws fixing it to the...

Push down, not lift up. Yes, really. For once ChatGPT is right. Just push down the lever and pull out the wire.

    Warm plug and socket

If it were mine, I’d turn the power off, open up the socket, and check for loose connections. It’s probably normal, but it does happen that loose connections on the backs of sockets can go unnoticed until you connect a large load.

Blocking off chimney breast, how much Kingspan can I get away with?

If this is an external wall, consider venting the chimney to the outside. Kingspan isn’t going to do much if there is a big hole in it.

    The mystery Box needs fixing!

So you should probably just put the cover back and get a professional in. This might not be the right project to start with. The cause of that is probably not in this box; it will be “downstream” in the cables etc. that this supplies It looks very foreign :-) So honestly, you might get...

    Fridge-freezer is dying

Just what I need! My 15-year-old fridge-freezer seems to be dying. It starts up, runs for about 2 seconds with a maybe slightly lower-pitched hum than usual, and then a cutout on the compressor clicks and it stops. A plug-in energy meter suggests it takes 3-5 Amps while it tries to run. So far...

    Wiring 6 pendant ceiling light

That’s almost what they did, look at the photo in post #3. Three wires per crimp. (I’m not sure what’s under the black tape in that photo.) But he seems to have chopped those crimps off.

    Stairs still patchy

Since no-one else has replied yet (I’m not a decorator!): Yes, because you haven’t painted it yet. It looks looks it has been very well prepared for painting. What finish do you want? I imagine any decent undercoat and top coat combination would be fine - but check the instructions for the...

Oil or gas for 51 square meter bungalow with two bedrooms?

    > I have been accepted for a heating grant …. need to decide by lunch time tomorrow. Is this a scam? Seriously: have you been procrastinating for months about a genuine grant, or did you get a surprisingly-genrous offer out of the blue that has to be agreed to within 24 hours, i.e. before you...

Im nervous please reassure me about my 1860s roof beams survey

The survey doesn’t say “urgent” or anything similar, and I think it would if it actually were urgent. Put it high on the list of things to do when you do eventually have some cash. Maybe get a quote, so you know what you’re facing?

Swap the pipes around near the boiler. Yes. If they ask why, show them the connection diagrams for the old and new boilers. If they say “but it doesn’t matter, the valves are bidirectional”, tell them the rads are connected TBOE. If they still don’t get it, say “look do you want this easy job...

Wiring a relay to protect a programmer help.

If the TADO contacts are rated 6A and they fail so frequently, I’d use a 30A relay. You should also consider whether the pump is on its way out. Maybe this will save the TADO, but then the pump will fail completely in 6 months time, and the replacement pump will not need it.

Wiring a relay to protect a programmer help.

You can install it anywhere convenient, where you can intercept the necessary wires. I.e. the wires to the TADO receiver and the wires to the pump (and a mains supply).
