    Removing old telewest/bt sockets

Considering I would never want those master sockets there, even if it means paying Openreach/Virgin to move them somewhere else in the unlikely event I want to change providers, is there an issue with just burying these cables behind the plaster? Any precautions to take in consideration with...

    Removing old telewest/bt sockets

Actually, after further inspection, the BT one connects to the pole (suppose this is the phone line?) and the telewest one connect to another box that belongs to my property - the box that feeds broadband/tv into my living room (the one we use for internet now).

    Removing old telewest/bt sockets

As far as I can tell, they do feed into a pole down my street.

    Removing old telewest/bt sockets

If I do want to use BT, I wouldn't want it connected from my front door. I would preferably have the master socket coming from the living room. Last thing I want is cables running all the way to my living room, where I have setup CAT6 to feed the rest of the house. But ideally, I would stick...

    Removing old telewest/bt sockets

Yes, there are cables connected to the boxes coming from the outside of the house - 1 for each of the boxes. No connections on the inside of the house anymore. Missus just refreshed the memory: We had two rooms with a BT box that we pulled out before we replastered, these are the old master...

    Removing old telewest/bt sockets

Wanting to move my front door and replaster the whole area, there are these 2 old sockets for both telewest and bt that I would preferably like to remove. These have been here since we bought the house and I can't remember if anything was ever connected to them. I seem recall us pulling old...

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

Result! Roofer was back in and I am much happier with the results now, at least from the way it looks. The second light point in my video took a bit more of convincing, but he did relent once I brought him up in the loft and showed exactly how it looked - that slate simply wasn't right! He had...

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

Thanks for the feedback, the underlay/felt only appears to cover the old chimney area - not very easy to see in the video, but I can definitely see it myself when peering down the slope.

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

Also, in regards to the first light spot in the video, what happened there? Misaligned slate on top?

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

I'll make sure to check tomorrow as work is being completed!

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

I did my best and he is happy to return tomorrow to fit new slates, in his words "both parties need to be happy in the end", so can't fault the bloke in the attitude department really. Will update as it now feels like people are missing something since the end of Tiger King .

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

I've decided to escalate this with the roofer, in the most courteous way I could write down in sms form. This has been gnawing on the back of my head all easter, so lets see what happens... Always a bit awkward coming back with a "but...", ideally you want a job done, be happy with it, pay up...

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

I think I can explain (to the best of my abilities...) the "missing" membrane/felt... Here is a video detailing: https://imgur.com/a/xk7pUmY The house has a raised roof, all rooms upstairs have a "slope" on the outer wall, so there was a lot more to the roof than what I was initially showing in...

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

I should have made it clearer - That picture (if we are talking about #3?) details the work on the first day of the job, which was mostly taken up by taking the chimney stack off. He left it like that just to leave something in place in case of rain (unlikely as we checked weather reports) and...

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

If you are referring to the section where the felt is visible, I believe that was properly worked in on the second day of work... If not, I could surely see a missing tile from either the loft or the view from the garden, which is not the case. I worked up the courage to go and poke my fingers...

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

Also worth mentioning, the roof in an old 1930s one, I don't know the exact terminology for the original slates (but they are the kind of ones with questionable levels of asbestos), the new slates mentioned in the quote are "eternett slates".

Light coming through roof after work being, is this normal?

Context: Have had a chimney stack removed by a professional roofer (found through checkatrade with 200+ near perfect reviews). Work was carried over 2 days. Once finished, I went in the loft and noticed some light coming through a couple of the tiles in the area that was affected. Proceed to...

Paint flaking off and stains starting to appear...

More updates on this… Total headache. SO, after leaving it dry for weeks, months, through cold and hot weather (been very warm in the last week or so!) I thought now is the time to take a stab at this again, here is a video from yesterday that details what I had before doing any work...

How to insulate behind sloping ceiling?

I will definitely be tackling this the right away once we redecorate the bathroom: Have the old lathe and plaster removed and put proper insulated plasterboard, combined with an actual extractor fan. Until then, it's half ass insulation, good quality paint and wipe downs with an extra towel...

How to insulate behind sloping ceiling?

Yeah, it's an absolute headache. Maybe a thin base layer of normal wool like insulation? (the sort of material present in the rest of the loft). Try to work some foil in there?... Makes me want to go around knocking on neighbours doors and ask how they dealt with it. Oh wait, social distancing :D.
