    Pipes Roaring

Probably not a leak on your internal pipework, as you say, you'd probably have seen something by now. but other thoughts? Does your water main run under the floor of the house at all, could that be leaking? would an underground leak cause such a noise (I've no idea), any eternal pipes/taps...

Draining heating system - nothing coming out drain valve

How much space have you got? you need to be able to pull at least one pipe out of the fitting. If it's soldered then you would have to heat with a gas blowlamp/torch and then pull apart, then clean up the pipes. Alternatively, cut the pipe each side, put a new draincock fitting in and a...

    Shower cubicle sealant

Just remove what is accessible. No need to disturb what is underneath. +1 for Dow Corning 785

    2nd rad from 10mm pipe

Well, I was responding to the OP and other posts, about the capacity of pipes, and it's the starting point - and that was really their intial question. Obviously there are a bunch of other considerations as you point out as to what pipe size would be required. Though I would hope that...

Draining heating system - nothing coming out drain valve

Didn't you drain it down again, would have been easiest to do something about it then? if you need to drain down, closing all rad valves will limit the amount of water you have to remove (from in the rads, and also it will stop water from draining from all the pipes.) You either need to...

    A challenging place to heat

Heated skirting board? Not the cheapest I'd guess, but you won't need a lot. eg. http://www.thermaskirt.com/ Others suppliers available

Bath mixer tap query - flexible tails or another option?

No, a 3/4" BSP thread doesn't measure 3/4" :-) IIRC The BSP sizes come originally from the internal diameter of the steel pipe for which they were originally developed. They will be 3/4" BSP. I'd use a couple of flexi's as suggested above - this is just the sort of job they are good for :-)

How big is this space? presumably it is off of a bedroom?

    BLOKCED DRAINS

That would be a lot of fat though I'd have thought to block so frequently? Are you sure that you are effectively clearing any blockage? Or as has been said, have an investigation re other problems We had a problem with our drain blocking a while after moving it. Access not good for rodding...

    Exposed Shower Mixer - issues!

I chased out and mounted a recessed shower in our old house in a single skin internal wall, so you should have no problem with an external wall, or thicker internal wall. You won't need to insulate the pipes.

    Radiator pipework height ???

Honeywell thermostat keeps tripping my power

Sorry, yes, slack writing on my part, I was really meaning the terminals on the stat backplate After he had identified what each of the wires is and and that they are connected correctly Though I wouldn't necessarily agree that this isn't something that the OP can't sort out, if they take the...

That would be rather annoying in this context :-)

advice for getting additive into system

Yeah, I would just drain it down a bit, chuck the X200 in the F&E tank, probably with another bottle of X100 (extra inhibitor is no problem, and for £15 not worth bothering about), and refill. But if you don't want to you could use one of their Rapidose cans...

Honeywell thermostat keeps tripping my power

Don't ever assume anything...... Sooner or later you assume the wrong thing :-) for example, old mechanical have a little resistor in that applies a little heat to the mechanism - this requires a neutral, live and the switched return. Maye someone used the earth core for one of these? what are...

Blockage in HW pipe behind built-in thermo shower mixer

I'm sure you could arrnage a little sign with diagrams for her..... Obviously what might work will dpend on the plumbing arrangements. digital showers like this: http://www.mirashowers.co.uk/onlinecatalog/results.htm?sectionName=Digital%20showers Might be a more useful option (all...

Blockage in HW pipe behind built-in thermo shower mixer

My shower valve has 2 little mesh filters on the inlets, underneath a screwed little accesses point. Thermostatic valves nowadays have removable cartridge that does the actual thermosttic bit. these can be removed from cleaning or replacement. whether you valve would have that I don't know...

Blockage in HW pipe behind built-in thermo shower mixer

That's an impressive wait for enough roundtuits, hat's off to you  The most likely blockage is at the shower valve , are there any filters? mine has them on the hot and cold feeds, you can access them by removing the front trim and handles. if not maybe in the thermostatic...
