    C & M Brittony 80 making a whining noise.

looking at the boiler you have 4 90 degree angled pipes which have a nut on one side and a clipped o-ring connection on the other. the central heating one on the right hand side. take this off and in the plastic hydraulic block where the o-ring side of the pipe comes out of, it is in there.

    C & M Brittony 80 making a whining noise.

I'm not sure but I think its to do with the c.h water in the boiler getting too hot when the hot water is ran. I went to one that was sounding like a whale singing when the hot water was ran and I phoned the tech line and they told me it was a partial blockage in the primary heat exchanger and...

Glow-worm Ultimate 40FF electrode continously sparking

as you know i have been following this post and hope it ends now but i had to just comment on the heating of the probe. The rectification does not work by heating the probe it works by the ionization of the outer cone of the flame being able to conduct electricity which in turn turns AC into DC...

Glow-worm Ultimate 40FF electrode continously sparking

oh and another thing to do before you buy a new board, clean the electrode if it looks black as this is another possible reason for you. DP you wanna dismiss that theory as utter nonsense too?

Glow-worm Ultimate 40FF electrode continously sparking

I gave a perfectly possible reason (added to the other possible reasons given by other posters, (yours included)) why this particular boiler could be doing this and you say I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm not the one dismissing the other theories as rubbish and claiming mine to be the...

Glow-worm Ultimate 40FF electrode continously sparking

I am extremely familiar with ignition sequences on boilers. If the pilot flame is too small then the rectification system will not realise the pilot has lit yet therefore it will continue to spark and not open up the main burner. adding a bigger flame properly engulfing the gap between the...

Glow-worm Ultimate 40FF electrode continously sparking

before you suspect the pcb make sure the pilot flame is big enough. if in doubt, remove the front off the boiler, get a lighter and while the boiler is trynig to ignite get the lighter flame and place it on the electrode then see if the main burner ignites, if it does then you have a partial...

Control system not working, HW but no CH

what you have said is that when you have heating only on you have 240 at hw off which is correct but you also have 240 at hw on which you shouldn't have

    Potterton Suprima

have a look in the fault finding section of the manual, it will tell you the possible faults compared to how many flashes it does per second for instance. the old boards do have a known fault that makes them lock out or just wont come back on after the temp is satisfied but its a bit weird if...
