    Interesting cold radiator query

but if you turned all the other rads off, did that last one get hot straight away, or really slowly?

    Interesting cold radiator query

on a followup, we're definitely not microbore, as the pipes are normal inch size (or 22mm anyway). And last night I turned the boiler up to max, put the room stat in a cold room and turned all the other radiators down. And the two errant rads did get hot - it took time, but they were...

    Interesting cold radiator query

he's taken them off, and apparently they're okay; was the first thing I thought of to be honest. I'll get him to possibly switch one with a rad that I know gets scorching.

    Interesting cold radiator query

That I'm afraid I don't know. The heating engineer is coming back on Friday, so I'll mention all this; at the moment he seems somewhat stumped, but he's mentioned a pressure clean etc. Thanks

    Interesting cold radiator query

well don't get me wrong, two are a definite cause for concern. So basically you think the furthest room uses the next room (closer to the boiler)'s pipes, so we're feeding two rads off one set of pipes, which could mean we can't do a lot about it? Would that be right? ta

    Interesting cold radiator query

two get warm, one gets warmer, and then there's 4 that get the usual scorching when on max.

    Interesting cold radiator query

So if we do have a bypass in the boiler, do we have to replumb it to avoid this? And if it's under the floor, it could be a real pain to do! thanks for all the replies

    Interesting cold radiator query

I know - this is what's confusing; it's not escaping as the pressure in the system doesn't decrease. Could I just ask one halfwittish question though - what's a bypass? A spur off another, which if it remains on 2 (say, rather than 4) is then limiting what goes through to the other rads?

    Interesting cold radiator query

Hi Just moved into a house with an interesting issue. It’s a chalet style conversion, with a loft. The combi boiler is pre conversion and was discontinued in 2001. Every radiator has TRVs, and until we moved in there wasn’t a room stat (we’ve installed a wireless Honeywell). The boiler...

    Unvented Cylinder discharge pipe

Cheers. Just had the hot water on for 30 minutes, and no overflow yet...the t&p valve just open and let hot water out if tried. I shall monitor, but thanks for all your help.

    Unvented Cylinder discharge pipe

one of the T and P valves is on the side - leads to the discharge pipe. Twist it a bit and more does come out of that valve, into the discharge pipe and tundish.

    Unvented Cylinder discharge pipe

well I did check, the valve was up at 30psi anyway, so I'm assuming it's not that. thanks for all your help though - just wondering now if the water is too hot. Hard to tell cos the boy is always fiddling with the temp gauge in there, so never actually have a consistency of temperature...

    Unvented Cylinder discharge pipe

funnily enough there is a car valve under the black plastic cap - so theoretically i get my high tech bike pump, and just bung it up to 25psi after turning the water off?

    Unvented Cylinder discharge pipe

cheers - I don't think the water is too hot - the showers have been the same as normal, and so has the washing up! I had a look in there - we've two expansion vessels. A red one for the CH (which seems fine - hasn't moved at all recently), and a white one for the HW, which doesn't seem to...

    Unvented Cylinder discharge pipe

Hi Just come back from a couple of days away, and our hot water cylinder is overflowing vast quantities of hot water via the discharge pipe. Doesn't always happen; when the boiler is heating the CH obviously the heating come second - when the house is hot, and the boiler can concentrate on...

    ideal standard bathroom basin

or could someone let me know what a symbol on the ceramic stands for - looks like a capital W with a suffixed c (or u) next to it. So could be Wc, or Wu, or possibly a W with a shell curled up. Cos I think I've got the model number for the basin - 1234. The pedestal appears to be 1044, the...

    ideal standard bathroom basin

Rather spectacularly i managed to smash our en suite hand basin at the weekend (dropping a perfume bottle in there...). Anyway - I think it's an Ideal Standard model of some description. How do I find the model number, so I can try and source a direct copy, rather than have to change the...

Halstead Hero 40 doesn't always fire

nope - no sparking fan runs, aps works (cos I can hear the click and see the light) It works when the boiler is cold, when the boiler has been running for an hour, and has reached thermostat temp...then it won't fire (spark) until the boiler has been cooled down again... thanks
