Halstead Hero 40 doesn't always fire

Hi We've a halstead hero 40 - i know! - and at the moment it doesn't always fire. Most of the time it does, but if it's been running for a couple of hours, then it doesn't always (hard to quantify I'm afraid). I've taken it apart as much as I dare, and changed the APS tubes etc (see...

    outdoor light

I've since realised (being a fool and all) that it's a 2 gang switch that I'm trying to replace... so would that mean that http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SMZV215.html is my only option? And that I can't use a CFL with the security side of it, but i can on the manual side? Am i reading that...

    outdoor light

25mm backbox? Does this mean a) I probably can't use the one there, and b) I'll need to chisel out a hole? The light shouldn't be a problem... pete

    outdoor light

Hi Possibly a silly question but would this http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SMZV700.html be okay for a switch for an outdoor light at home. The existing switch is a single one, normal sized....and it would just mean the light would be on in the dark in winter - we live in the country so...

thanks for that. Any ideas how I would wire it - or would I have to see what's behind it first? thanks pete

    Kitchen Switches

Hi I've got two switches in my kitchen doing not a lot. One is a 13A FCU switch that controls the boiler, and the other is a 45A cooker switch. It's vertical and the equivalent of a 2 gang switch high. Can I replace either switch with a socket and switch? My mother-in-law has a 45A switch...

I do think Agile reply is a little harsh actually. He was there 10 minutes. I've no problem paying (as I've said). He didn't need to do a diagnostic because I'd told him what (i thought) the problem was. The cover was off because I'd been looking at it that morning. My wife would've offered...

oh all to do with my 5mm hose tee taking the pressure from the fan to the aps. I told him what i thought the problem was (after help on here, it was narrowed down to a hole in the hose tee), he concurred and as i say, wound some tape on the tee. Something I could've done if I'd not been at work...

morning lads - potentially a contentious one here. We've been having trouble with the boiler (see earlier posts) and we got a boiler man out a couple of weeks ago. He was there 10 minutes, didn't have the right part, used some tape as a temporary fix (which didn't work) and missed the same...

Condensation in Air pressure switch tubes

nope it's not that part - it's a 5mm hose tee - basically the bit that connects the tubes inside the main burning area and the tubes outside which lead to the APS. Goes through the metal box wall. i thought 58p was quite pricey - the actual tubes were only 29p...

Condensation in Air pressure switch tubes

just in case anyone is interested (or has the same problem) it's to do with a crack in a small piece of plastic joining the two tubes connecting the aps and the fan. It's affecting the air pressure or something, and is apparently not that uncommon. All this for a piece of plastic that costs...

Condensation in Air pressure switch tubes

could I have made the problem worse by blowing down and using the condensed air sptray in the tube to get the condensation out? obviously both would contain water [well liquid] vapour and if i'm putting more into a sealed area it's going to get worse wouldn't it? Should I just put the tubes...

Condensation in Air pressure switch tubes

sorry to go on - is something I should get sorted ASAP then? Or can I leave it as I generally only need to do it about once every month or two. If it's potentially unsafe though (with two small kiddies) I'll get someone in tomorrow.

Condensation in Air pressure switch tubes

So would it too little gas coming through the gas valve then (potentially)? It's not unsafe as is is it? Just a pain in the proverbials?

Condensation in Air pressure switch tubes

so if we had a service a couple of months ago and he didn't pick up on it then I should ask him back and ask why he didn't notice it??

Condensation in Air pressure switch tubes

Hi We seem to get a lot of condensation in the tubes leading from the fan to the air pressure switch in our Halstead Hero 40 boiler. It's easy enough to clean out (i've got a can of compressed air spray) but obviously I have to take the boiler apart to do so (which kinda rules out my wife...

    halstead hero

Hi all Our boiler (halstead hero 40) seems to be a bit dicky at the moment. It does seem to work (for about an hour) and then it doesn't work again. It doesn't even get to the fan starting up - you can hear the electric click of the boiler thinking about it, but then nothing. However it...
