Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

What have they chucked in on a bank holiday weekend? And I’ve no problem paying the council for the dropped kerb guys. My issue is how the foundations 10” below the drive will hold. Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and pay for a BCO to come out from the local council.

Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

Hi Luke thanks for all the help. Can you see any issues with a sloped drive bearing down on the foundations just 10" below the soil? I guess the first thing is getting a Building Control Officer around to give his thoughts. It just might be difficult at present because of the lockdown.

Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

Thank you so much for the help Old. I really appreciate this. Couple more things if I may, but will the weight of the drive and car on it bearing down on the earth above the foundation not cause it to crack? Obviously the car won’t be parked flush against the house but as in the pictures the...

Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

Thanks for the reply Old. Do you see any issues with the sloped driveway as far as the foundations are concerned? How far out from in line with the foundation would you begin the top of the slope?

Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

Thanks for the replies guys. Well my house is one of 4-5 on my street which are all raised the same, but none of which have driveways sadly. (Old Google Maps pictures from long before buying the house) This is the street behind but as you can see, it is level with the road, meaning...

Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

It's a small pic but from what I can see it looks like something I would be pleased with. I'll see what others might say here and get back to planning. Edit: but going back to your earlier comment, if the driveway were sloped and started at the edge of that old concrete path, it would...

Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

That's some great advice Salt, I will consider that. Do you happen to have a pic of your drive?

Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

Thanks for the reply, Old Salt. Thought of that but it would need tarmac or concrete, the former being ridiculously expensive, and the latter being unsightly imo. Even if sloped, wouldn't the top of the slope have to be a few feet from the edge of the house wall?

Planning permission needed for driveway and lowering front lawn?

My plan is to dig out the front garden area to put in a gravel single car driveway level with the pavement, and hopefully be approved by the council for them dropping the kerb. The idea hit a snag today when after taking down the front wall and side fence, as well as awful concrete path in...

Can't find chainsaw sprocket cover washer! Please help!

Hi again Foxhole. The manufacturer just emailed me back asking for the serial number, invoice, etc. so it looks like they're going to be doing something themselves, rather than Toolstation, who have not even replied. Btw, I'm curious about your profile pic. It's like an artistic 60's beach pic...

Can't find chainsaw sprocket cover washer! Please help!

Toolstation said they aren’t handling returns at the minute, due to the lockdown. Do you mean the chainsaw bar? If so I think there is and it probably sits against the missing plate snugly :) Mine was lost but I found it, put it back on, started up the chainsaw again, and it rattled loose and...

Can't find chainsaw sprocket cover washer! Please help!

Hi Burnerman. Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late response. I'm not sure if that will work exactly. The only thing that covered the chain in the pic I posted was a thin metal plate like a washer with an oval hole to cover this oval shape on the sprocket It was SORT OF like this but...

Can't find chainsaw sprocket cover washer! Please help!

So I bought a cheap chainsaw from Toolstation to help rid my garden of trees. It was a cheapy but I only want it to clear my renovation project's garden. About half way through the task the sprocket cover plate got bent out of shape a little and then flew off and was lost completely. Now the...

Bought a fixer upper. What’s this front vent?

Thanks John. It could very well be air supply for an open fire as there is one to the right of the inside of that wall. Well, it isn't strictly mine yet. The searches results should be back within the next week, and then the solicitor will exchange contracts on my behalf with the vendor, and...

Bought a fixer upper. What’s this front vent?

It possibly is for the fireplace but it’s the exterior of the bay window.

Bought a fixer upper. What’s this front vent?

Thanks Andy. I just noticed as I uploaded the pic. So just measure and buy a normal vent cover. Is that crack in the render to the right anything to be concerned about?
