    Gledhill Boilermate & Alpha Pump

I will shortly be installing a Gledhill Boilermate 2000 on an oil fired CH system with all TRVs. Before buying the Gledhill I was intending installing a std cylinder and with this in mind I bought a Danfoss Alpha pump to cope with the TRVs. Question - can I install the Alpha in place of the...

Bathroom radiator piped straight off the boiler?

OK, I'll think about it ! As I said, I have to do a bit of replumbing to accomodate the Y plan layout, so we'll see where the existing pipework needs to be cut. If the rad can stay in, maybe I'll keep it "as is". Cheers again for the info.

Bathroom radiator piped straight off the boiler?

I had considered leaving it (though the layout has to modified to Y plan anyway) but the irony is that in 12 years I never even realised we had the option of having it warmed by the dhw circuit. Its fitted with a TRV, so it has spent every summer stone cold.........

Bathroom radiator piped straight off the boiler?

    >> If the system has previously been used with a solid fuel boiler this radiator will have been the heat leak!! Well, I wondered if I was going to get a technical explanation such as that, but no, it was always on an oil boiler, so I suppose its just for a permanently warm bathroom rad...

Bathroom radiator piped straight off the boiler?

Firstly, this is not a question requiring a solution - its just to satisfy my curiosity....! I am replacing a 20 year old oil boiler which had 4 pipes running to it - indiect cylinder coil F&R, CH F&R. I was powerflushing the system today and couldn't understand why the bathroom rad...

    CH Layout Question

Thanks for the warning. If I have time to find another b4 it gets hung on the wall I will do so! I am also looking at an oil boiler for another project. You mentioned Potterton - are you saying they are rubbish too (cos they are not cheap!!)

    CH Layout Question

Not really a fair assessment - it was bought for a project which changed direction - all perfectly genuine. I'm still waiting to hear what's so terrible about this boiler?! BTW, its not for my own home - its for a flat I'm refurbing, BUT I will be renting it out once its done, so if its a duff...

    CH Layout Question

Thanks Dave, ref the 15mm info Soggy - yes it has an internal bypass BUT it also says you should fit an external. I think the internal one is for emergencies only !!

    CH Layout Question

Just what I needed to know - thanks. Is there anything else in my proposal that would conflict with Part L?

    CH Layout Question

    >> Why would you even consider a biasi Cos I was offered it at a price I couldn't refuse. I presume you are going to tell me they're c**p? Is so, why? Reliability? Features? Efficiency? As to the 26kw, that should have said 28kw...... No intention of touching the gas or flue - I...

    CH Layout Question

I'm fitting a new Biasi Riva 26kw Condensing Combi Boiler (well the pros will fit the boiler, but I'm doing the plumbing) and have a couple of questions: 1 - CH will comprise 7 or 8 rads across 2 floors. My plan is 22mm in & out of boiler, 22mm equal Ts to LHS & RHS, manifolds at each end to...

New Oil Fired Boiler - Condensing or Non Condensing

I have brazed in the past. What material do you use? Std copper tube??? What about compression fittings - wouldn't that be easier?

New Oil Fired Boiler - Condensing or Non Condensing

Thanks for the additional info. Can you recommend a "good quality" panel, as there are a lot out there. I wasn't aware you couldn't use solder connections - like I say I've not looked too far in to it yet. Why not BTW? Is it the heat, the antifreeze, or what? Cheers again.

Flow Rate Reqd for Thermal Store/Heat Store

    >> It is the pressure you limit. What is the pressure? The more flow the better. Dunno - like I said I don't have the kit to test it. wouldn't it be fair to assume that if the flow rate is high the pressure would be likewise?

Pipe sizes - boiler to thermal store

A quick and hopefully easily answered question..... I am installing a new 26KW oil fired boiler and a 180/210 litre thermal store. Connections on boiler and store are 22mm/1". It may be gravity fed, but more likely pumped. Should I use 22 or 28mm pipe? I am assuming 28mm with converters...
