    Mains water noise

Hi, Although I am not a Plumber! I still would suggest fitting a pressure reducing valve. And NO, turning the stopcock down , does not reduce the pressure! You can buy a 15mm compression fitting valve from Screwfix for around £34.

close coupled toilet - advise needed

Hi, We live in a bungalow with a very similar problem and have put up with a low flush which has a pipe from the cistern to the pan for years! I searched for a very long time and exhausted most options in sales rooms and the Internet! I did not want a boxed in type either. I now...

CH/HW System Problems - Poss Dodgy 3port valve & pump

Switch off boiler. Wait until all the pipes have cooled first. Restart the boiler, then try moving the manual lever at the side of the 3 port valve and holding it across in the other direction. If the pipe to the Rads stays cool you have found the the problem! Now you need to see if...

    Water Pressure and Flow

This may have cured the problem! The stopcock only opened up 1/2 a turn. I have now stripped the valve and got it to turn a few turns. It seems lots better now! It was probably the sealing washer base plate not moving freely? At least I don't have the splashing and pressure falling off? Alan

Oil Boiler Kettling , now Leaking!

Message for Simon, The boiler has been serviced every year since new! It had Fernox Inhibitor added on fitting. When I get hold of a large enough angle grinder I will take the corner out of the H.E. for a closer look. I am as interested as you are! From experience, what do you...

Oil Boiler Kettling , now Leaking!

My oil boiler, a Boulter Camray was kettling, so I put some Sentinel in to clean out any build up of scale etc in the heat exchanger. One month on, I now find the exchanger is leaking! (not sure if it was before, as I have just found water under the lino). Anyway, as the boiler is 12 yrs old...

Radiators hot even though heating switched off

What make is the 3 port valve? If it is Grunfoss or Honeywell you will probably be able to change the electrical controller ontop without draining and disconnecting the valve assy. If it is an ACL? Well, looks like the whole lot will need to be changed, ie. valve and the electric box on...

    Water Pressure and Flow

I forgot to mention the shower functions ok! It's just the dribbling from the rose. It is not the shower unit as I have exchanged it for a new unit! The bungalow, many years ago had a kitchen extension fitted. There was work around the the pipe work at the stopcock. To explain. The...

Radiators hot even though heating switched off

I reckon it is the 3 port valve stuck due to gung or the electrics are kaput inside! Try this! Along the side of the valve is a little lever, try moving it to the other side. It may spring back a bit, see if that works and it stops heating the other ciruit.
