LED or Plasma TV??? Sky or Virgin?!

hi. having read the comments above, i cant tell you what to buy. What i will recommend is to remember the size of the room that the tv is in. Too many people in 2-up, 2-down terraces buy a 65" tv and sit there like an owl watching a tv screen that looks hideous in that room. Everyone has...

Is it safe to cut tv power cable?

it might be a silly question, but what make of tv is it, and are you sure that its not connected with a figure 8 or a kettle lead? cutting the plug off wont affect any warantee whether you have extended or manufacturers whatever you do, remember to put a 5 amp fuse back in the plug to...

    Help....so useless :(

hi... do you subscribe to movies and sports? Do you have an xbox 360 or PS3? download the app on them and using the wireless network (PS3) if you have the xbox, you might need the wireless dongle bit (normally about 60 bucks) you can access the channels on that! the magic eye is only...

Hotpoint WD420 repaired inlet valve but now not switching on

i would double check that you didnt disturb anything as you removed the inlet pipes. you might have knocked a terminal. All else fails, try boots appliances (i didnt know they did washers either!) a lot cheaper than comet and currys

    Interference on digital television

If you fgo into the picture settings for both the tv and the digibox, and ensure that they are both on the same setting for pic output (RGB or PAL) you didnt say if you had connected it via a HDMI lead or a scart lead.

    reclaimed UPVC window unit

thanks guys. from past "trials" of drilling through the wall for aerial cables etc, I have found that a long bit goes through fine. Due to the age of the house (1890-ish) I sway with the belief that it is a solid two layer brick wall, no cavity. I have posted some stuff in other posts on another...

    reclaimed UPVC window unit

its a 600mm wide full opener, with trickle vents, top opener, with locks, and nice leading on the top pane (i put that bit on myself) it was a bargain at £45 i didnt want a brilliant white new unit shining out from the front wall, so hence the salvage yard visit. I will fit it in the new...

Builders: What are these things in my loft? Pics within

by the looks they are quite important! stringers are used to ensure connection from the wall to the joists. you might get away with putting spacers under the boarding, and if possible dont nail into the same joists as the strips. Ive not seen them on planks though...... hope it helps

Wiring oven ( no hob) 3200Kw to plug socket

another thing I forgot, as the vents on the back of the oven. If the vents are directly in site of where the plug socket is, then this is called the heat zone. no cabling or sockets can be in this area!

Wiring oven ( no hob) 3200Kw to plug socket

there are some dual fuel ovens that require a 20 amp being installed. I know this is not the same as yours, but the mcb has to be the same rating as the oven. This issue catches a lot of people out. The manufacturers installation instructions should take preference. that way, if it all goes...

    new window opening

ha! this works! ok. I understand if its a cavity wall, then a cavity closer is required etc. I am intending on installing a " new" stone sil to keep in the appearance of the property. would this need a dpc above or below?? Call me a numpty, but I have been looking at so many articles...

Wall Mounted Plasma Channelling Wires Do I Need Trunking?

maybe worth putting a large opening behind the set, for ease. you can always get 5m hdmi leads for approx £5. Dont bother with Monster leads etc, as they are way too expensive for what the average member of the public wants them to do! whatever you decide to do, make sure you wrap some...

Outlet Union won't fit into Waste pipe

by the looks, the wider end is desgned for the manufacturers waste pipe to push into, not join to. the use of a jubilee clip would still be required. either that or take it back to B & Q and get a refund, ans not appropriate for the machine. Comet do the right ones!
