Wet and dry is the name/make of some fine paper to rub down with. Flat off means to rub down just enough to take the gloss /shine of the doors.

    Top Coat for a hallway

An oil based eggshell will give you a good tough finish. Easy to use, as you don't have to put on an undercoat just two top coats so you only need to buy the one tin.

    Stripping Lead Paint

How you do it is up to you, using stripper and then cleaning down with a white spirit before rubbing down is fine. Myself I would remove flaking paint (dry) and then rub down. Pop a coat of zinsser on it then undercoat and top coat. I'm sure lots of people will now come on and tell you if...

    PAT testers

What I use is a Fluke 6200. I would also recommend an Ipod as well, then you just have to turn off brain and turn on Ipod and away you go.

    Fluke T5-600

I also have the T5 and find it very quiet and if I'm in a room with a radio on you have no chance to hear it, good bit of kit to use but only in a quiet room. Lyngarth

if outside gloss is no longer glossy, what kind of prep?

Lightly rub down and clean off with sugar soap and you only need to prime any bare areas. I use one undercoat and one gloss (oil based trade paint ) but I know some people use two gloss.

Fit then tile. This way you can fit the units as you like and then set out the tiles making sure they line up right.

    Painting/cutting in

WHY??? I always use a brush, I have many 6 & 7" flats I use, to me you get a better finish and when you get used to brushing you can work quickly. Better than going around cutting in then going back with a roller, but thats the way I work, not to everybody's liking but I find it fine...

    Painting/cutting in

If you want it all to look the same then just get a good 6" brush and do it all by hand. It doesn't take that much longer by brush, when you take into account the time cleaning up rollers after wards and going back on yourself all the time. Lyngarth
