    three way thermostatic diverter

What is the make/model of the shower valve? Are the hot and cold feeds under equal pressure?

    Lockshield gets warm first

Could be that the system is sludged up a bit and it is not air in the system but hydrogen. Next time you bleed a rad have a sniff and see if it smells eggy.

Temporarily Remove and Cap Kitchen Radiator

Depends on the valve thread. If the nut can be lowered revealing the olive, you can gently cut the olive off with a hacksaw, being careful not to score the pipe. Then you can fit a stop end with a new olive or better still a new valve ready for your new radiator.

Would love to answer to this in more depth, have to hold back, but your the type of person we are advertising for and hopefully trying to convince and protect from the less caring traders out there. Thanks again.

cold radiators after removing/ capping downstairs radiator

 If the system is a one pipe system, by removing that radiator, it could stop the flow and return all together. I've seen it happen before, by virtue of the way it was designed. Suggest it to plumber/heating engineer when he investigates.

cold radiators after removing/ capping downstairs radiator

Did the kitchen fitters just drain down the rad in the kitchen and cap the valves, or drained down the whole system before capping off the pipes?

Want a New Boiler - Question to Customers Only

Thank you Mathew, your comments are gratefully received. Definitely an excellent topic for discussion and opinions, which I could so easily do, but that could take this post off at a tangent, and the thread could be lost. I am purposely staying neutral to encourage others to comment. A worthy...

    Cold radiators

First place I'd check would be the pump. If you want to bleed it on the front is a big silver screw. Loosen it and air may come out plus a tiny bit of water. Does the pump sound airy or bubbily? Do any of the rads have TRV's on? As you have already played around with the rads, make sure both...

    Killed By Hard Water

Don't tell everyone. Added weight down at the scrappy's. I tell customers about the limescale but they don't believe you half the time - perhaps I'll put them onto that video.

    "Dead-leg" area on C.H. ?

No need to complicate matters. When the new rads were installed the system should have been balanced to give equal share to all rads. Do that and your problem will undoubtably be solved. Without getting technical check which radiators are getting very hot and range them down on the lockshield...

    Securing shower tray

As Burnerman says. For extra protection I always slap on a ring of silicone seal around the edges, before I bed it into it's final resting place.

    Boiler and central heating blog

I have two blog sites. One under http://moggridgeplumbing.blogspot.com and one under wordpress.com - totally separate from my website. I keep them going for the linking back to my website, but they don't receive the traffic in comparison. On my website I do have a link to my blog site, but...

Is the supply to the toilet from the mains or a tank in the loft?

    Haunted Toilet

Could be a bit of muck in the pipe. If it has an isolation valve then bits of old solder can get stuck. Also there may be a filter in the valve which needs cleaning. :)
