    Balancing radiators

Do you know the make of the TRV's. Look on the side of the valve it should have arrows for the flow direction and it might have bi-directional written on it. By turning off all the valves your going to have to start from scratch with the balancing, and the fault with the rads may not have...

    Are radiators neccessary upstairs?

Better to have TRV's fitted than keep turning the rads off altogether. You never know when the next big freeze will hit us. Good old british weather!

    Boiler brands

I agree with going for the Worcester, although I've had good reports on the Viessmann. As a registered installer - You will get the 5yr warranty with the Worcester, but that can be upgraded to 7yrs as an option. :)

    Boiler & pipework gurgling

Definitely sounds a very airy system you have got. Auto Air Vents are better than manual ones, but if you do have a problem with it pumping over into the F&E then they won't solve your problem, just disguise it.

Combi boiler + sink mixer tap with pull-out shower head?

Seems a bit odd to have the shower coming off the basin. I would either change the bath mixer tap for one with a shower hose or install a separate shower mixer valve and get rid of the electric shower. Electric showers don't give a lot of pressure and they are more expensive to run. The...

    Boiler & pipework gurgling

Boiler max thermostat setting probably not necessary unless we have really cold weather. Cylinder setting ok at 60 if your happy with output of hot water at tap. Otherwise turn up or down to meet your needs. As a guide pump setting is No 1 - 1 floor level No 2 - 2 floors No 3 - 3 floors...

    TRV stuck open

It can be done without draining down the system but unless you are a plumber I suggest you drain down the system, rather than take the chance of a flood. :)

    Boiler & pipework gurgling

Does the pump sound like it gurgling? It may need bleeding.

    TRV stuck open

Not necessarily. Do you have a sealed or open vent system?

    Barrier Pipe Bend Radius

What they are saying, and as I interpret it, the 120mm bend is for an unsupported made bend whereas it can be made smaller with the support of a former.

Electric shower drips when washing machine on!

I'm sure that the mira needs at least 2bar pressure to work effectively, but don't quote me on that - I have not checked. Your mains pressure can be tested with a 'pressure gauge' - I usually screw it onto an outside tap or washing machine valve. :)

Can I install a shower in a central bath?

If your thinking of having a victorian style vertical rail out of the taps to a fixed head, then probably no, as the rail usually needs supporting. Unless it rises to the ceiling and is supported there!!. Difficult to visualize, perhaps get someone round to give suggestions and a quote.

    Downstairs Radiators not working

Sounds like air in pump possible problem.

40mm sink waste pipe connected into square downpipe?

You can only do this if you have a combined foul and rainwater drainage system. Assuming the rainwater pipe is connected to the drainage system and not going to a soakaway. You will not find a connection for waste pipe to rainwater downpipe. It can be done (Conversion) but would need to be...

    TRV stuck open

No the knarled ring only releases the TRV top - the valve is sealed.

Kitchen Sink - Bad waste pipe installation?

The long pipe run should have been upgraded to 2" but in reality it is not often done. The problem is you do have a blockage along the run somewhere, or the run has such a slow fall the discharge is running full bore. Or more commonly seen the long pipe run is not properly clipped which lets...

    Raising boiler temperature

The answer may not be either of the thermostats but your pump, or at worse a resriction in the flow from your boiler around the hot water cylinder and back to your boiler. Check to see if when the boiler fires up that the pump is running. If the boiler cuts out fairly quickly and overheats...

    TRV stuck open

the valve at the other end of the radiator to the TRV is the lockshield valve, which should not need adjusting unless you happen to be balancing your central heating system. The problem you are having with your Thermostic Radiator Valve (TRV) is either the head is not screwed on correctly, or...
