This is on an external wall. It's an old sandstone building and the chimney is built into the wall.

    Fireplace removal

Have just removed our fireplace surround and the brick work seems to have been built out to accommodate the shape of the fireplace. Am I fine to remove all of this? There shouldn't be anything load bearing?

Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 - not reaching target temperature

Just to update, We fitted a pump to the system and sorted the problem. They suspected the water wasn't able to reach a high enough flow rate the to the pipe diameters.

Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 - not reaching target temperature

Thank you for all the input. Yep D.017 has been on 0 I changed the target temperature around. Anything above 60c then D.005 would initially show the set target and within 5-10 seconds of starting the central heating change back down to 60c. Anything below 60c would stay at the set temp. So...

Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 - not reaching target temperature

Unfortunately these suggestions didn't work. The installer contacted Vaillant and came back out to re-check the system. They reckon it's due to the size and length of pipe runs. The boiler has 28mm output and our system has 22mm pipe running throughout the property with 15mm branches to the...

Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 - not reaching target temperature

Yep D.071 is set to 75c and D.017 is set to 0. D.005 shows target temperature is 75c but when central heating is called this drops down to 60c. The boiler seems to be automatically limiting the heat out put for some reason.

Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 - not reaching target temperature

I just went along with the installers recommendation, but I'm guessing that it is over powered for my setup. I'll try adjusting the anticycle time and set the partial load, but I don't think it's cycling off/on. It seems to come on at low power and just maintains a low power output with a temp...

Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 - not reaching target temperature

Yep, the target temperature has been set to 75c but the boiler only gets to around 50-55c when the central heating is running. If I check the diagnostic codes D.005 shows the target flow temperature. This shows 75c and stays at 75c when heating the cylinder but changes down to 60c when the...

Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 - not reaching target temperature

Hi, I have recently had a Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48 boiler fitted on the recommendations of the installer and unfortunately have problems with the boiler reaching target temperature for the central heating. It is set up with 22 radiators and an unvented cylinder in a S plan with a hive...

Advice on quote for dormer loft conversion

Hi, I am planning a loft conversion for my house and currently getting quotes. So far I have 2 quotes which are vastly different - first one was £90k and the second was £40k!! Just wondering if someone would be kind enough to give me a ballparkish figure of how much I should be expecting? It...

Thanks for you reply denso... I was having my roof re-slated and realised that my chimney was damaged (flues had collapsed internally above the roofline) i got the chimney rebuilt and i got a chimney sweep out to check the flues - he told me that the flues were corroded and best re-lined but...

    Flexible chimney liner problem

I have just had my chimney rebuilt and the builders put 5 inch steel liners down the flues... After doing this they revealed they do not know how to seal around the liners at the bottom and neither does the plumber who took the fires off.. Does anyone know how to seal around the liners at the...

    Chimney stack ladder??

Hi, I am currently having my roof reslated and my chimney stack rebuilt. My original chimney stack had a ladder on the side (very old and rusty). I have asked the workers to put a new ladder on the new chimney so that I can still have access to the chimney pots if I need to BUT they are...

    Reliable roofer in Glasgow

Hi Kirkgas Roughly around 150m squared - I think it's westmoreland slate on the roof just now I was initially planning to reuse the existing slates but I have been told that it would be much cheaper and easier to use new slates - There are 3 chimneys that need new leadwork, a clubskew...
