    Bosch Dishwasher won't stop pumping.

Just to let any others know how I fixed this problem. Indeed I had a leak which I could see when I ran the dishwasher with the side panel off. I unplugged the whole thing and turned it upside down. From there it was easy to get into the mechanism where I could see the leak was coming from a worn...

    Bowing Wall.

Hello there, I have just been looking at a victorian semi-detached house that interests me although I did notice that on the detached side there is a very slight bow in the wall about half way up. There are no windows on this side of the property, just an alley way. The house is built on a...

Potterton Flamingo 50 pilot light cuts out

Thanks for your replies. In the end I went and replaced the thermocouple myself after following this link http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=13767 and my boiler now seems to be working fine. Julian

Potterton Flamingo 50 pilot light cuts out

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. This morning I discovered I had no hot water. I found that the pilot light on my Potterton Flamingo 50 gas boiler had gone out. I reignited the pilot light but it cuts out after about 30 seconds. If I select the hot water to 'on' upstairs and...

Treating a stripped pine front door.

I've just had my old pine front door dipped bringing it right back to bare wood. I want to keep the unvarnished matt look. Can anyone tell me what I should treat it with to protect it but keep it looking like untreated wood? Thanks, Julian London

One of my radiators is cold.

Hi there, I recently had my bedroom replastered. The plasterer and I thought it would be a good idea to remove the bedroom radiator so he could plaster behind it. As we could not manage to close the inlet valve into the raditor we decided to screw it back into place and plaster around it. Now...

    Brown stuff coming though paint

The house was built around 1870. The plaster did feel dry and looked ok. The brown stain is coming though on two places. Around a small window (old damp?) and on a main wall where I don't think there was ever a chimney breast. The stain block sounds like good advice. Many thanks. Julian

    Brown stuff coming though paint

I just stripped a load of wall paper in a room and today I began painting the wall white with matt emulsion. After the first coat began to dry I can see a brown stain on the paint in parts (as iff something is coming thought the paint from the stripped wall). Can anyone tell me what this is...

    Blocked Gutter.

A cast iron pipe that takes water away from my roof has got blocked. The pipe has a couple of bends in it as it runs down along side the house and one of these I think is the source of the problem. I have tried a wire coat-hanger but could not get deep enough and caustic soda did not clear the...
