How should I fix this sagging internal wooden door?

Easier said than done with these strike plates as the screws are near impossible to get any purchase on (they are probably original and have layer upon layer of gloss on). I'm sure I will get there though. Thanks for the advice

How should I fix this sagging internal wooden door?

It looks like it is the door that is quite badly warped. Maybe as much as 1cm out of square. Spoke to the wife and she says she doesnt care about the sagging, she just wants to ensure that the catch works so the cats cant get in the room. I think I will just look at extending the catch hole...

How should I fix this sagging internal wooden door?

Hi all, I have a wooden door that is sagging badly and the catch is no longer landing in the hole. I have tried to tighten the screws but it has not made any difference. I am a bit confused about what my next step is to try and get things aligned. As you can see below, the alignment is quite...

Are 15mm couplers OK as a permanent fix under floorboards?

Yeah, I think the cats would be unhappy if I insulated all the pipework!

Are 15mm couplers OK as a permanent fix under floorboards?

Genuine question... Insulation on the pipes? Is this something that is done nowadays? None of the copper pipes in my house have insulation.

Are 15mm couplers OK as a permanent fix under floorboards?

Perhaps I wasnt clear as it looks like JG speedfit are plastic connectors? I just used copper pipe and brass compression fittings from Wickes. These ones to be precise: https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Brass-Compression-Straight-Coupling---15mm-Pack-of-2/p/421409#

Are 15mm couplers OK as a permanent fix under floorboards?

Hi all, After replacing some floorboards over the weekend I managed to plant a screw into a 15mm central heating copper pipe (dont ask! - it was the very last screw as well!). I had a couple of spare 15mm compression coupler fittings handy and was able to do a quick repair using the couplers...

Recommendations for ceiling crack/artex cover up product

Hi all, I will shortly be redecorating a bedoom and am looking for some advise on what product to use on the ceiling. I was in Wickes today and couldn't find anything except regular emulsion. The ceiling has dimpled artex. It has some minor cracks which I am expecting to be able to cover up...

Bulb melted socket after installing dimmer switch

Ok crap, I just read up and have learned something new. Can't believe I have gone this long without understanding the significance of the voltage rating on a lamp. Embarrassing I guess I have just always picked up a bulb from the shop which are always standard 240v. Now they are quite hard...

Bulb melted socket after installing dimmer switch

It's a 100w/110v lamp. I thought that as long as it is 100w (which is the max for the fitting) I would be Ok?

Bulb melted socket after installing dimmer switch

Yeah, that's not a huge problem. I only bought a cheap dimmer switch so don't mind replacing it. I am going down a bit of a wormhole looking at my options. I see that some of these LED units come with thier own remote control allowing you to dim, change colour etc. I had no idea there were...

Bulb melted socket after installing dimmer switch

Hi all, I have a plain and simple 100w max light fitting in a spare room. I am just about to renovate it to be a nursery so thought it would be a good time to install a dimmer switch. The fitting originally had a 100w bulb which I found hummed a lot. After some googling I found this was not...

Bosch Classixx 1200 Express WM - How to remove filter tray in detergent draw

Hi all, I have a Bosch Classixx 1200 Express washing machine. Its got to be at least 12 years old (it came wit the house!) but has been a very solid work horse but hasn't had any regular maintenance/cleaning. I have been having some problems recently with the fabric softener not draining from...
