Although is that not a waste of power/energy (watts) for just the HW circuit ? when that 1 pump only go's round the coil and back in most cases ??

I need to replace an upright pipe feeding a rad ....however when I drain the system down water is left in the pipe and seems to always trickle back in if removed making it difficult to solder.Any ways round this ???????
