    I'd go with plan B. It would appear to be the most cost efficient way of achieving your desired result. It seems pointless to demo the whole thing with all that expense to create a relatively small room. Good luck with whichever option your go for!

    Wood vs blackout blinds

    Wooden blinds as you have described let through loads of light in my opinionas the slats don't close completely flush/shut and they have holes for where the string runs through the boards. Blackout roller is the only way to go unless you fancy spending lots of expensive shutters.

    Solid Concrete floor pros and cons

    It doesn't shake/has no movement in it which is great. It doesn't creak. They tend to be insulated slabs so I don't think thermally it is a problem. I would say though that our downstairs has a more regular temperature than our timber framed upstairs.
