check to see if the push button, is making contact with the syphon, there may be two rods that go into the top of the syphon. the water continuing into the cistern sounds like the valve is not closing straight away. how old is the unit? there maybe some sediment on the rubber seal.

Hi, It sounds to me that you will need to replace the pan!! :cry: If the build up of lime scale is that bad, you will not be able to clear it from the rim of the pan and this will eventually prevent a correct flush. Hope this is of some help..
