    Breeze blocks under floorboards

Hi All I'm in the process if laying new floorboards in my master bedroom as the old ones creaked something rotten. After pulling up the boards yesterday, I've found a row of breeze blocks running across the middle of the room which I believe are sitting above, what was, a wall below but...

Smell "Gas" but no gas leak

Will keep track and see what happens. Problem is the living room smells like gas but even just using a sniffer where you smell it shows nothing. So frustrating!!!!!

Smell "Gas" but no gas leak

So after having the gas turned off for the past 36 hours, we are still smelling "gas" so can eliminate the gas leak on our internal pipes. I'd also suggest that there is no dead animals as this smell has been ongoing for some time (circa 3 months) but gradually getting worse. I'd expect if...

Smell "Gas" but no gas leak

Flue is on the other side of the building and the living room is at the rear of the house so I dont think thats the case... but never say never. I have been talking to someone about having the gas pipes detected with hydrogen to see if any leaks... at least we will know once and for all if it...

Smell "Gas" but no gas leak

Problem is, we dont know exactly where the pipes run, this is a new house to us and no pipes are visible apart from on the back of the cooker into the wall. I have tried using a sniffer that I purchased over the weekend and it seemed to pick up a heightened level of "combustible gas" in some...

Smell "Gas" but no gas leak

Thanks Dan! We have turned off the gas before but will try again and see what happens. I guess there must be some sort of Analysis tools to monitor exactly how much natural gas is in the air and if it is in fact heightened in the living room and that certain areas are higher than others?

Hi All Bit of an odd one... but here goes. We can smell what we can only describe as gas in our living room. We have had transco out who found a small leak (upto 50ppm) on our gas fire which was repaired. The transco guy did say he was surprised we would be able to smell something that...

Smell of gas when doors/window open

Hi All Bit of an odd question but hoping someone can help. We had a new gasco stove installed a while back and had the installers out as we could smell gas, which happened when we had the patio doors open on the same room. Installers came out and checked everything and no leaks etc so...

CCTV Fuzzy Image - Possibly Wiring Issue

Great, thanks. I will plug the camera directly into the DVR and power it externally to make sure all ok. I have tried changing the 4 cameras around and all other cameras display OK on that channel. I dont have a crimping tool but have ordered some twist on BNC connectors which will...

CCTV Fuzzy Image - Possibly Wiring Issue

Hi All We have had CCTV up in our house since we moved in but recently decided to upgrade some of the cameras for improved night vision. After a mishap in the loft, I ended up pulling the shotgun cable away from the camera which resulted in both the power and the BNC disconnecting. It also...

    Shocks from Kitchen Appliances

Hi John Thanks for the reply. The bread bid sits next to the toaster, quite possibly could be touching at times, if not very close to it which I assume might answer your question about something earthing it?

    Shocks from Kitchen Appliances

Right, using a bit of common sense... is a sink electrical? No one questioned when I mentioned that. I originally said, if i touch the D/W and sink... ie the sink is metal. I then said, I touch the toaster (which is electrical) and a metal bread bin. I dont really understand what I have...
