    Shocks from Kitchen Appliances

If I remember rightly, the D/W is plugged in under the worktop (hidden away) but is controlled by a switch next to the toaster plug above the worktop. Im not sure if thats a fused (switched) spur.

    Shocks from Kitchen Appliances

It happens when touching the dishwasher and another metal item. Also happens with toaster to something metal. If hands are wet, no need to touch anything else and just get a shock from the elecrical appliances themself. Hope that makes sense.

    Shocks from Kitchen Appliances

To be honest, it has been going on for some time but seems to be getting worse. We know not to touch certain things but agreed, it does need sorting ASAP.

    Shocks from Kitchen Appliances

Could statis really cause this? From what I've experienced... if I touch something to get a zap, I would say it does'nt dis-charge, I will continue to get the same level of shock till I let go... Almost seems like its an electricity leak than static. That said, Im no electrician so...

Hi All Go easy on me, I'm not an electrician but after some advice. My wife and I are getting shocks in our kitchen... its not limited to one appliance but is often worse when touching something else metal at the same time. IE I touch the dish-washer and the sink. This is happening...

Condensation - what can I do?

Hi All My house is suffering with a huge amount of condensation on the double glazed windows which are installed. Before I go on, I do have a 600 ltr open top marine fish tank so, yes I know this is pretty much the source of a lot of my problem. The existing double glazing is approx 10...

Reposition Boiler - Things to consider

Thanks Tony! The current boiler is an Ariston which I would like to replace. I dont know about the new one as not looked yet as to what is the best etc. How much work is involved with putting a hole through the roof? Thats obviously assuming thats a possibility. Cheers Karl

Reposition Boiler - Things to consider

Hi All I would like to move my boiler from the back bedroom in my house to either a cupboard on the landing or into the loft (fully boarded, permanent stairs etc etc). My only concern is the flue and where that can go if it went in either location? The current position of the boiler is...

Draining combi central heating with no drain

Thanks Chris My only worry is I wanted thermostatic valves to be installed but there are obviously 2 connectors on a rad so could have the drain at one end and the thermostatic valve at the other I guess? Cheers Karl

Draining combi central heating with no drain

Hi All I would like to put thermostatic valves onto my rads at home but I can't easily drain the system as there is no drain in the house (the previous owners liked cutting corners). We have one large rad downstairs with the 2 feed pipes which are coming through the floor and surface...

Thermostatic Shower - Coming out cold when turned to hot.

Sorry, I dont really understand what you are saying now... Everyone knows hot goes on the left, if I rotate 180 degrees (knobs still on the front), this will put the hot on the wrong side. I fail to see how this will help? The direction you turn the knob (and ultimately turn the stat) will...

Thermostatic Shower - Coming out cold when turned to hot.

I have just re-checked the inputs and both are definately correct. I tried changing them over and if I do that, its either scolding or freezing, ie its not mixing which definately means its plumbed wrong. If the unit is around the wrong way, inputs would still be the same way as marked and...

Thermostatic Shower - Coming out cold when turned to hot.

Hi All Installed a new shower today, all seemed fine until I tried it out, turned it to hot and cold comes out, turned it to cold and hot comes out. The plumbing is fine - the hot and cold definately aren't around the wrong way! I have tried to remove the thermostat as someone suggested...

    Installing a Shower Wall Union/Elbow?

I will take some pics when i get home. Basically its a black rubber washer that gives a fairly secure fit but does not "snap" in place and literally is lose, there is simply no way to secure it to the call. Looking online for an example, this is very similar to mine, but mine has a male...

    Installing a Shower Wall Union/Elbow?

Thanks I saw that thread but the comment on there is the same as me: Yeah, I understand what you're saying and that's what I would have expected... But it's not like that. The elbow is integral to the cover and the only bit that attaches to the back is a rubber seal...! So there's no...

    Installing a Shower Wall Union/Elbow?

The problem I have is I can't access the recess any longer, I simply have a hole and a flexi hose coming out which I need to try and secure agiainst the wall. Is there something available where will screw to the tiles and then have a cover that makes it look "nicer". If this wont work, I...
