    Washers for Combi boiler?

You need standard 3/4 and 1/2 fibre washers for these joints. http://www.screwfix.com/p/fibre-washers-for-flexible-tap-connectors-pack-of-20/75601 http://www.screwfix.com/p/fibre-washers-for-flexible-tap-connectors-pack-of-20/93297 Screwfix opening hours are pretty good.

    Mains smoke alarms

Cheers guys. I might as well give it it's own supply from the consumer unit seeing as I'm able to at this point. I've got plenty of spare 2.5mm twin and earth so I'll send 2-3 feeds through the boxing just in case, no worries if they don't get used. Thanks again!

    Mains smoke alarms

Alright guys, just after a bit of advice on the above. I'm doing some building work at home at the moment and at some point in a few months or so I'll be getting an electrician to fit interconnected mains smoke alarms. I'm assuming one will be fed from the consumer unit and all connected...

    Baxi Solo HE18 lockout

Sure, I understand that. Even so, this could end up being the main heat exchanger which is expensive so I'd let Baxi take the hit.

    Baxi Solo HE18 lockout

I'm a little reluctant to give advice regarding this fault as it's combustion/gas related and any DIY jobs can be dangerous. I'd recommend getting Baxi (heat team) out to do a fixed price repair, they know this boiler/fault better than anyone.

Will cast iron radiators work on 8mm microbore system

The pump is part of the boiler so there's not much you can change about that. Those rads will need a higher flow rate than the 8mm pipe can provide, I'm sure they'll work but I doubt they'll get as hot as they should. Basically, they'll dissipate heat quicker than they're receiving it...

    Baxi Solo HE18 lockout

How old is it? There is potentially a list as long as your arm that can cause this.

    WARNING VAILLANT 837 commbi boiler

Do you think your 837 is a commercial boiler???

    WARNING VAILLANT 837 commbi boiler

What experience have you had with other combis / manufacturers? Or even other Vaillants? If it's only your own then how can you make such a sweeping generalisation? It makes no sense!

    fault code on boiler?

Read the sticky on DIY gas at the top of the list of threads. It could be very dangerous if you don't have a professional do it, not to mention expensive as it could be a miss-diagnosis.

    fault code on boiler?

Who checked the gas pressure? Sounds like you already know it's an ignition/gas related problem. You'll need to get a qualified engineer to take a look at it. Try calling the manufacturer and asking if they do a fixed price repair. I think there number is 01787 272800 but not sure. It's...

    WARNING VAILLANT 837 commbi boiler

Vaillant are a top manufacturer and produce some great boilers. I've seen 100s, you've seen 1 (I assume) Sorry but you've been unlucky! Obviously there's a lot more to it than we can see in this thread so there's no point in speculating about the reasons. For any consumers reading this, I...

    pump overrun - how important?!

It needs an auto bypass valve and the pump needs to be wired back to the boiler as per manufacturers instructions. Also make sure it has a permenant L-N-E and a switched live from the wiring centre. Again - as per manufacturers instructions. If it's not done like this you can get problems and...

    Glow worm 30cxi dead

Ha you watch, the OP will turn around and say it was the PCB :D :D :D To be fair that's unlikely, we'll probably not hear back.

    Glow worm 30cxi dead

Yea very true. It's best to be as diplomatic as possible with any advice because there's always someone smarter just around the corner. It' takes a real nob for me to start slagging anyone off on here.

    Glow worm 30cxi dead

To be fair, this is probably the only range of boilers that I wouldn't give the same advice as you, Vicvapour. 90% of the time any other boiler would need a new board.

    Glow worm 30cxi dead

How many times have you replaced a PCB on this boiler for this fault?
  20. Andygasman2010

    Glow worm 30cxi dead

It's fairly common for something on the low voltage side of the harness to give this fault, it could be the main PCB but it's just a likely to be the fan, pressure sensor, etc...
