Spybot is great, I also use 'Spyware blaster' and 'Adaware' both these are free and add yet a little more protection! Although be careful with these programs if you use peer-peer sites caus they will more than likely stop access. Althoug not a bad thing in my opinion!

    Wall Kitchen Units

can I ask why you would want to install a new kitchen on an old crumbly wall? Personally I would rather put up with the old, save some cash and get a plasterer in!

Any new TV experts out there?

I was talking about the res cap on the PSU mate I honestly think I would (possibly) rather get a zap from the residual charge in the tube than get the full force from the capacitor mate. It might be a much lower voltage (about 340Vdc?) but as they say it's the volts that jolt.... You know the rest!

Any new TV experts out there?

It really should be emphasized that opening up CRT's and wiggling 'things' is not really a good idea :? You see there are 10's of thousands of volts (depending on tube size) stored in the tube and while not a great source of current it will at least F****** hurt like mad and make you fly like...

Any new TV experts out there?

This is more than likely dead cheap to fix, it is very UNlikely to be the tube, because specific colour faults normally have symptoms of one constant colour always on i.e. there is a slight colour shade with a black screen. Even then if the telly isn't that old it is more likely an electronic...

    new digital camera.....?

I wasn't having a go, it is just the first time I have seen it and thought maybe you'd be better putting black bars top & bottom of piccy instead!

    new digital camera.....?

don't listen to what Jessops have to say they want to sell the bloody thing  why don't you read some proper reviews - I think people have generally helped you enough, certainly given you enough advice it is up to you now

    new digital camera.....?

funnily enough early video camera's used tubes for the picup then a second tube for the viewfinder, both effectively mini CRT's. My Grandfather bought a sony F1 system and as well as the above the cassette went in a seperate recording unit, halled over the sholder. It all weighed a bloody ton...

    new digital camera.....?

Toffe, basically all camera' have pros and cons - the best advice people can give you given the VERY limited you have posted here is NOT to go above 5Mp unless you know why you might need more megapixels (I have increadible prints off one of my old 2Mp cams!) and if you want zoom at all then...

    silicone to secure tiles

surely that is not a good thing itself? I would tell him to f*ck off he probably gets silicon off the back off a lorry also you can buy cheap silicon £1 a tube if that. Also how would he keep the tiles the same distance from the wall? that is generally why tilers use a notched trowl!

    HD TV

Don't confuse that with the single input composite video input, component video has 5 seperate connections and is generally considered superior over RGB & S-VIDEO. I have never seen a standard tv with comp inputs but my 21" computer monitor has them :D

Resistor Colour Codes - What Am I Doing Wrong ?

I find resistors with blue bodies can appear to change the colour of poorer printed bands. Try under different light?

RJ45, phono and plug sockets together.... good idea???

    Don't forget SP/Dif &/or TOS Link connectors :D

more electronics really, but maybe someone knows

from what everyone has said here you need to 1. look at the bulb voltage and 2. take a voltage measurement at bulb point with break pressed and rev engine to see how voltage varies. I assume the bike has an alternator and the alternator should have a built in regulator? - which might include...

    dimming 12v halogens

Just as an experiment try connecting (temperarily but SAFELY) a standard 60W bulb to the circuit then try dimming to see if all lights then dim properly. I wander if a purely resistive load will provide a better path to neutral than that of the electronic transformers? Don't forget the dimmer...

    ID cards are coming!

If some people here like the idea of a National database linked with I.D. cards so much, will they also agree with the governments push for the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill? Democracy as we know it is being snatched from under our feet and I regret we will only realise this when it is...
