Incorrectly installed Valliant Eco Tec boiler- advice on what to do next?

I had Gas Safe arranged earlier this year but he assured me the boiler was still covered. Stupidly I believed that and cancelled the appointment as I was so worried they would declare it unsafe. From what I’ve read he fitted incorrectly regardless of the reason and it would seem he is liable...

Incorrectly installed Valliant Eco Tec boiler- advice on what to do next?

Good morning all. Hope you had a relaxing Christmas. I’m looking for some advice on how to proceed with a new Valliant boiler that was incorrectly fitted 3 years ago. Long story short there is not sufficient clearance (there is 80mm as opposed to 180mm as per their guidance) between the boiler...

    External insulation advice?

Thank you for the replies so far. Just to clarify the loft was converted in 2006 and is the warmest room in the house (it’s like an oven in summer). I’ve also had double glazing fitted throughout in 2014. The boiler is coming up 3 years old and is a Vaillant Eco Tec plus model. It’s hooked up...

    External insulation advice?

Evening all I live in an end of terrace 1930s house with solid (pebbledash) walls. Without exaggeration this place is like the artic- cold all the time including the summer when people assume I have aircon . Each winter we wrap up warm and try to heat only the rooms we are in. This year is...

New born baby- heating on all night?

Evening all This is quite topical given energy prices but any advice would be appreciated! We’ve just brought our newborn baby home and trying to figure out the best way to keep the house warm without our gas bill doubling. I should point out that we are end of terrace in a 1930s house with...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

Back again with a tidy hole in the fake wall. I might have to open it up a bit more to be right on top of the pipes but from what I can see and feel there are 3 pipes going up. Two are 15mm I would say and the third one feels larger so I would say 22mm. Edit- after that I cleared out all the...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

You will be please to know that I have done just that. GS will be coming around to visit and see if it was installed properly. If I overpaid (even considering London prices) so be it but if fitted incorrectly and I have overpaid then it will get messy for him.

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

Just the replacement boiler which was the same make- just a newer model. He wanted to put a Worcester in but I wanted to stick with Vaillant. The boiler was around 12 years old (installed 2007) and the boiler and the pipes were kettling (if that's the right word- either that or clanking...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

Unfortunately this is now my conclusion too. It seems that corners were cut by using the previous set up. Hopefully we can come to an arrangement but he can re site the boiler for free if it doesn’t meet the specs.

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

I must say I’m amazed at 13 pages but have taken it all with a pinch of salt. Gas safe will come to take a look at the installation but it sounds as if the pipes should have been upgraded at the time but I was not made aware of this, nor was it quoted. The replacement of the boiler was just over...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

i think this sums up the entire thread. For all those following the GSE didn’t come or call today which I expected. I called Gas safe and am going to request that they come to check if the installation was done correctly. Hopefully they can advise on the solution but the more I read the more it...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

Wow this thread is really moving on quickly. I have to say that I am very dubious about the installation especially as he installed it in situ and didn’t mention that the clearance was incorrect. That makes me wonder what else wasn’t correct. here are some photos at long last!
