Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

The oven is on the ground floor and about 5m from the gas meter/main pipe. My guess is the main pipe under the stairs feeds the oven (i seem to recall a plastic flexi pipe for that) and I assume copper pipework up to the boiler though it could be the same thickness as the pipe on the meter. How...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

I'm sorry- I am literally reading out from the benchmark document. Does that imply what the GSE has written is rubbish?

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

I have the certificate- Central heating mode Burner operating pressure 20 millibar domestic hot water mode Burner operating pressure 20 millibar When he and the Vaillant engineer tested at the boiler this week it was 13.5. At the meter it’s 20 millibar (tbc). The gas flame on the cooker is...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

I’m looking at the online manual. Gas connection, boiler side 15mm Almost all my pipe work is hidden which is a real headache. There is a mega flow under the boiler which hides everything and the pipes lead to behind a false wall. That might be my best chance to get an idea of the pipe size...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

I am certain that the plumber just connected up the old pipes and didn’t check to see anything else as seemingly it wasn’t an issue in the past. Easy work and payday but he would argue that it would have been more expensive to change the pipe work etc. The pipe that feeds off the meter must be...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

looking at the old pipe it starts off at 28mm for about 30cm then into a 36mm pipe which disappears under the floorboards. My guess is that thick pipe continues under the ground floor for about 8m then up behind a false wall to the boiler above. If I were to guess the 15mm pipe to the boiler...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

its an eco tec plus 630. As you can tell I’m out my depth here but looking T the boiler feeds it a 15mm pipe going in and big old pipe pipe at the meter. Looks almost double the thickness. The gas feeds the cooker (5m away on same floor) and the boiler is on the first floor and got to be at...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

hi there. No he wasn’t BOXT- he’s independent and certified gas safe engineer. The boiler was installed 2 years ago to replace a 12 year old Vaillant. Definitely no isolation valve on a Valliant. last year I didn’t see the test, only that everything was ok. This year the nanometer (if that’s...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

The meter is under the stairs. The Vaillant engineer suggested that the first part of the pipe work could be replaced with a 25mm pipe and see what happens. After that the pipe disappears under the floor but feeds the gas cooker next door and the boiler (upstairs). It’s just really strange that...

Huge gas pressure drop between meter and boiler. Help!

Hi everyone On Tuesday I had my 2 year old Vaillant eco tec boiler serviced by the plumber that installed it. He said he could sign it off as the gas at the meter was 20 millibar and at the boiler it was 13.5 millibar. Last year it was 20 millibar for both. As the boiler was under warranty...

No power to underfloor heating and extractor fan.

It’s hard to believe but it’s meant to be brown albeit the most pinky brown I’ve seen. on another note I have power back on the extractor fan and the underfloor heating. Feel a bit of a wally as the isolator comes on when the bathroom light is on (doh) and I squashed the underfloor control...
