    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

Hi all, sorry if this is the wrong subforum, it seemed like the only one related to heat, that was my basis: The kitchen and bathroom are consistently the coldest rooms in my house. They are also the rooms that lack both carpets and curtains I dont think putting carpets in them is feasible for...

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

well now, why exactly will i need a soldering iron? Given what was said above, it sounds like i could just cut the wire, strip it, twist the ends together, and reseal in these heatshrink tubes. In that case presumably the twisting and the tube would hold things together, and no soldering is needed?

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

I dont know much about electrics, i think i was upfront about that ! But i'm here to learn i do actually have a heat gun, bought it for label work once, recently been using it for fabric interfacing and paint drying, so that part won't be a problem, and the tubing seems pretty cheap, i saw...

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

i did a bit of searching for heatshrink tubing, and there are a LOT of sizes, any idea what i'd need? Something smaller i presume? The wire is pretty thin, maybe 5mm, no idea how many smaller wires (cores?) are inside it and how exactly is stripping done?

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

That might be trickier than expected, its an ikea Lanspelare Notably, there is a little control box in the middle of the cable with several buttons. Power, warmth, and +/- intensity. The break is unfortunately between the lamp and the control device, i'm not sure how much a device might...

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

My favourite lamp isn't working right, it randomly cuts out if the cable isnt held at the right angle. After some close inspection, i have identified the break. About a millimetre wide, the cable sheath is pierced and the copper wire within is presumably damaged. If i bend it in a loop so that...

Attaching wood to plaster wall corners?

so the answer actually is...glue? i'm a little skeptical, but it sounds easy and cheap enough to be worth trying! Should i remove the paint from the wall, and/or leave the inner part of the corner piece bare of paint, for this? Hypothetically, if i did use one of the products you mention and...

Attaching wood to plaster wall corners?

Hi all, my hallway has just been replastered and i'm currently repainting it, in a black and gold art deco styling. This may be gaudy to some and tasteful to others, but its what i want to do Anyways, i have these wooden corner pieces i want to attach to the two outward-protruding wall corners...

Help me find the right paint rollers

well at this exact moment, i have zero functional frame and roller sets, a paint job that takes two people, and someone coming over to help me next week. So it seemed like the right thing to just complete two sets In any case, i also need to learn, what standards are there, how do i find things...

Help me find the right paint rollers

i have been silly in past months, buying tons of paint rollers and frames sort of at random, because i falsely assumed it would be all standardised, now i have several 9 (226mm) inch parts that don't fit together i have these foam rollers, and no frame that fits them. External diameter 57mm...

Protecting carpet and skirting boards when painting

this makes sense, and im definitely guilty of watering down my paint a bit much but there is also the problem that paint in a tray dries out over time while you're working, and if you're not regularly adding a bit of water and giving it a stir, it can dry onto the tray and be wasted. This is a...

    Plug spinning in hole!

mystery deepens, i have just drilled holes for my second shelf, about a foot above this one, and i hit masonry on both of them! My best guess is that there is masonry there all along, but at the first spot i drilled, it was crumbly and damp, this is an occasional problem around here
